Guest guest
Hello all, Happy New Year! I've finally got rid of the various bugs I got over Christmas and I can now give you some news. To recap, I went to see the endocrinologist my GP in France recommended. He got me into hospital for 3 days for tests. They took gallons of blood and did a Metopirone test over 24 hours as well as ultrasound scans of my thyroid, abdomen and ovaries. I did not have time to come off NAX for very long before the Metopirone because this was organised at very short notice. He put me onto Euthyral (T3+T4) and I am currently on 1 tablet a day split in two doses. I feel better on it than on Thyroxine. I spoke to the endocrinologist over the phone last week. He told me that all my test results were normal including the Metopirone (I forgot to write down the figures and I have emailed him asking for them. I am waiting for his answer.) However, some antibodies came back positive which showed my immune system has attacked/ is attacking my adrenals. According to the tests he had done he said that I showed no damage to my adrenals (no symptoms) and that as far as he was concerned no further action was needed at this time. He would however monitor my cortisol and ACTH yearly. I am currently coming off the NAX, partly to test his opinion that I don't in fact need it (and he doesn't think it does anything anyway), and partly so I can do a 24-hour saliva test because I am not very happy with his response and feel the need to investigate further. I had Graves's disease as a teenager and I really don't want my adrenals to go the same way. I am going to contact him again on Monday to ask for the results I am still missing. Is there anything you particularly would need to see? They have tested so many things that I cannot post it all here. Best wishes,
