Endocrinologists

Hi,

Thanks to Sheila and the tpa forum, I saw my gp today, and have been referred to

an endocrinologist. My gp even suggested that I don't go to my local hospital

where I have recently had tests, which resulted in a diagnosis of CFS, despite a

rising TSH level, and a family history of autoimmune and thyroid illness. I

live in the Greater Manchester area, and I have been given a list of hospitals

to choose and book which are: North Manchester General Hospital, Chorley and

South Ribble, Royal Bolton Hospital and Salford Royal. My questions are: Is

there a thyroid specialist in my area? Can I ask for them in particular? Can I

request a particular thyroid specialist even if they are out of my area?

I can't currently access my other e-mail account where I was sent the list of

doctors by Sheila. Please could it be re-sent?

I have sent you a list of recommended endocrinologists privately

Jo, some are NHS some are private. I have had no recommendations for good

endocrinologists from any of the hospitals you mention unfortunately, but see

if there is somebody on the list you would like to see and then ask your GP to

refer you to one of them. NHS doctors need a referral, private doctors usually

don't.
