Guest guest
Hi Sheila and all, Sorry it has been a while since I posted, the temporal arteritis flaring not the thyroid. My mum who takes levothyroxine at 200mcg daily has just been to see her gp who told her that there is no thyroid hormone showing at all in her recent blood tests and asked if she was sure she had been taking it. I know for a fact she takes it, first thing every morning before she gets out of bed. He has suggested putting the dose up to 250 a day. I feel that this is a classic sign that it is not converting to T3. I have told her to ask for Erfa or Armour so we are now waiting to hear from her doctor. I should like your opinion on my feelings about this, do you think I am right? She has recently had cortisone injections on her knees due to sever pain, she is constantly cold, fatigued and for someone who had a very sharp memory is now very forgetful. She puts it down to her age, she is 78, but I don't think it is that as much as the lack of thyroid hormones in her system. Am I correct in thjinking along those lines? Many thanks, Lynne xx
