HACKER ALERT: Please beware of false login web pages (esp. to Facebook)!!!

Sheila has given me permission to warn you all as I was duped on Friday and my

account was hacked, sending emails to everyone on my address book (including

her) with a virus link, without my knowledge, using my email address!

These false pages which are linked to sites you use regularly are a relatively

new way to send out viruses, and few people know to BEWARE!

I haven't been on Facebook for a while and logged on Friday, and remember seeing

a page that my session had timed out and that I had to enter my username and

password again to enter my account. Once in Facebook, my friends were

circulating a message:

" HACKER ALERT !!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS A NEW WAY TO HACK YOUR FACEBOOK. A

NOTIFICATION WILL BE SENT TO YOU THAT ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS HAS COMMENTED ON YOUR

STATUS. IT WILL OPEN A NEW PAGE & TELL YOU TO RE-ENTER YOUR FACEBOOK USER NAME &

PASSWORD. CAUTION !!! THIS PAGE LOOKS JUST LIKE FACEBOOK'S LOGIN PAGE, SO BE ON

THE LOOKOUT!!!! PLEASE RE-POST THIS!! BE AWARE FRIENDS "

I guess, this is what happened, my Facebook account was hacked, and if it wasn't

for Nick forwarding the offensive email and warning me that my account had been

hacked, I wouldn't have known, as there was NOTHING in my SENT box. I entered

my password into a FALSE Facebook page (but it looked so genuine!)!

Unfortunately, even though I emailed everyone in all my accounts that the

previous email was a virus, it was too late for some, as they had already

clicked on the link, thinking it had come from a trusted source and their

computers are in a mess now!

Who would have thought Facebook would have a false login page linked to it?

What a nightmare!

I've run my antivirus and my computer is clean and have changed my passwords (at

the advice of Nick) which will hopefully help!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE THE URL ABOVE IS FROM THE GENUINE SITE BEFORE

ENTERING YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD!
