Guest guest
From many things you say Kerry, I am wondering whether your problem is not thyroid, but adrenal related. Read these: http://www.drlwilson.com/articles/adrenal_insufficiency.htm http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/hypoadrenalism.htm Luv - Sheila I'm not sure what T4 toxicosis symptons are but I could hardly get out of bed, felt nauseas all day, very bad headaches, slept very, very badly & felt very, very fatigued (like it was 4am in the morning, permanently or I'd been out on the lash the night before - except I hadn't!) Absolutely no appetite & kept losing weight, down to eight stone 2. Whenever I had my period (when on Levothyroxine) I felt very ill indeed, the worse I have ever felt & this includes when I was suffering from viral encephalitis (infection in the brain). All that has happened since I've stopped taking Levothyroxine is that I've felt better & even when I had my period I didn't need to spend days in bed for the first time in over six months
Guest guest
Hi Kerry I'm taking 2 x 1000 Solgar sublingual B12 tablets daily for two weeks & then I was going to drop it to just one tablet daily. This is what the lady at Solgar suggested, do you think this is ok? No - this is not OK. Most health food shops want you to take the recommended daily dose - but when you have long term illnesses like hypothyroidism and your B12 result is so low in the reference range, then it is extremely important that you build it up so you get it to the top of the range - that is when you will start to feel better. After hearing from both you & Sheila I've firmed up my adrenals plan which is to not take NAX, have the synacthen test & take it from there. As far as my hyperthyroidism goes.......as you know, I have stopped taking Levothyroxine some 11 days ago now & although I feel much better not taking it...I have my next TSH, Free T4 & Free T3 test booked for 16th May & I suppose I really ought to start re-taking Levothyroxine to understand if I have a T3 conversion problem? If this was me, I would start taking the levothyroxine again - otherwise, by the time you go for your blood test, your results will be through the floor and this will only cause more problems for your doctor and yourself. Once you decide on NDT and the day you are going to start, (and you have had your short synacthen test), then stop levothyroxine for a week and during that week, start your NAX by taking one tablet with breakfast, and on the 8th day, start your NDT and add another NAX with your lunch. Luv - Sheila .._,___
Guest guest
Thanks Sheila,Do you think I should continue taking 2 of the B12 tablets for longer than two weeks then? Shall I try a couple of months at this level? One more question, from your email, (sorry!), what is NDT? Is it Natural Dessicated Thyroid??
