Guest guest
It sounds as if you could well be suffering with one of the many associated conditions that go along with being hypothyroid, Please read the attached document thoroughly and if there is anything you don't understand, just should and somebody will be along to offer an explanation or some answers. These are conditions that must be treated before thyroid hormone can be properly utilised at the cellular level. Also, please ask your GP to test your levels of vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc, because like low ferritin and low vitamin B12 levels, any that are low need to be supplemented before the thyroid hormone can be fully utilised. Your ferritin level is very low - it should be between 70 and 90 for you to feel good, and your B12 is also very low. A B12 result should be right at the top of the reference range, and this is usually around 175 to 850. You need to start on sublingual B12 (Solgar is good) 1000mcgs daily. If you can't tolerate Ferrous Sulphate, you should think about taking another iron supplement because if you are not boosting your ferritin level, you are going to continue to feel pretty awful. You should also be taking at least 4/5000mgs vitamin C along with the iron supplement. You should be eating foods very high in iron. You must always take iron and calcium at least 4 hours away from your thyroid hormone replacement. Thyroid Complex is not really likely to work any better than your T3 if you are suffering from any of these associated conditions until they have been properly treated. You may need to get tested for low adrenal reserve and systemic candidiasis by Genova Diagnostics. Again, check in our FILES section under ;'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' to order any test from Genova and if you tell them Thyroid Patient Advocacy is your practitioner, you will get a good discount on each of the tests you need. Luv - Sheila I look so different skin is dry and sore and spots look awlful but not sure why as I have always had nice clear skin. I also noticing more bruises which come and go (low iron maybe ?). Guest guest
Thank you for the advice Shiela. I will get my iron levels up I am now taking Spatone which seems to be better tolerated. I will give the solgar a go to raise my B12. How long does it take to get all these levels up roughly if you do all the right things ? Another thing is my mind seems to be really slow, i cant seem to logically think straight like i used to and my memory is pretty bad only since my throid has been removed. Why is this is this low vit B or related to thyroid ? Thanks again :-) > > It sounds as if you could well be suffering with one of the many associated > conditions that go along with being hypothyroid, Please read the attached > document thoroughly and if there is anything you don't understand, just > should and somebody will be along to offer an explanation or some answers. Guest guest
It is a difficult question as we are all individuals and one size does not fit everybody. You must need to get settled into a good routine and be sure to do everything you can to get your iron levels up. You should take high dose vitamin C (4/5000mgs) daily to help with absorption of iron. Also, check out all the foods that are really high in iron. Here is a good long list for you to choose from http://www.buzzle.com/articles/iron-rich-foods-list-of-foods-high-in-iron.html Brain fog and short term memory is a symptom of hypothyroidism that will get better once your thyroid hormone problem has been sorted. My brain was one of the first things I regained when I started natural thyroid extract after the synthetic levothyroxine did nothing for me.
