Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone can give advice on above. As you may know 2011 been

pretty stressful do far with my m/c and mum's diagnosis, and my hypo/adrenal

symptoms issues are in overdrive . Had started to take NAE that had stopped due

to pregnancy as well as my 4 grains of erfa armour, vitd3 , vit c, zinc,

selenium, folic acid, iodine, EPO and floradix ( taken apart from armour ) .

Couple weeks back started to take hc as ran out of NAE. I had ordered the hc as

had discussion here over my short syc tests, which were dismissed by endo as ok

but were borderline/sub optimal . Started off taking half a tab ( 5mg) then went

to whole as was still so very exhausted and finding even the most light

housework tiring and very hypot , hair loss started again and A LOT of weight

gained , however even at half tab of hc the side effects were noticeable, acne

just to add to depressing appearance of bad hair and droopy face, and very

irritable. The side effects have increased with taken full tab of hc , like

sweating and overheating and stomach annoyance but no joy on the exhaustion ,

and have long and emotional road ahead , and would like to the day on feeling

physically capable and not just floating on auto-pilot. Have taken NAE on and

off for about 18 months now and was wondering if should just revert back to that

and take max poss- is that 8? - was on 6 daily , but also wondering should I be

relying on that long term ? I don't really want to take the hc anymore as the

immediate self evident cons outweighing pros. Thanks for any suggestions in

advance xxx

You were on only 5mg then 10mg of HC ? That is a too low of a dose you are

surpressing your bodys own production but then not taking enough to fully

support you and give your adrenals a rest.

The typical starting dose is around 20-25 BUT its usually reccommened from a

saliva test, but im guessing you dont have a recent one of these since youve

been on NAE for 18 months ?

You could stop all adrenal support NAE/HC for 2 weeks then get a saliva test

then we know where your adrenals are at. But if you dont want to do this you

chould chart your temps 3 times a day 3 hours after awake then 3 hours later

then 3 hours later, and work out an average each day this will give you some

indication of how your adrenals are working.

Hope this helps :)

Hello Jill

I wonder if you have got something else going along with your

symptoms of hypothyroidism and your absolute exhaution? Ask your doctor to

please check your free T4 and free T3 as well as TSH to see whether you are

converting the inactive T4 into the ACTIVE T3. Ask also to have your serum

levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc

tested to see whether any of these are low in the reference range. If any of

them are, the thyroid hormone will be unable to fully absorbed at cellular

level and this could account for the way you are feeling.

Are you following Dr Rind's recommendations by taking your

temperature 3 times daily to see whether there is any pattern there http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph

relating to your adrenal health and treatment with HC.

If you decide to stop your HC, then you must do this over a

period of time decreasing your dose gradually.

When you get the results of the blood tests mentioned above,

post them here on the forum together with the reference range for each test

done and we will help with their interpretation. Doctors will mainly tell you

that you do not have a problem if you appear ANYWHERE within the reference

range - and this is not the case. We need to know WHERE in the reference range

the results lie.

Luv - Sheila
