Hi all,

I first posted on this forum back in February wondering if I might be

hypoththyroid even though my TSH and T4 had been tested 3 times and always come

within the normal range (2.64,2.3,2.05 and 10.9,12,12.8).

Shortly after that I saw Dr.P who confirmed that both my thyroid and adrenal

functions were impaired and started treatment with nutri thyroid and nutri

adrenal extra. I definitely had some improvement in my symptoms since then but

was still lacking energy and unable to lose any of the weight I'd gained.

Last week Dr.P said I could swap my dose of 6x NT for 2 grains/ 120 mg

Armour.Suddenly I felt amazing! The only problem is that I was so excited to have

so much energy again that I went a bit mad doing loads of exercise and am back

to feeling completely exhausted today.I'm now paranoid because I've just re-read

my advice notes and seen that it says not to to increase excercise too much or

overdo things or you could undo any progress made. I guess I'm hoping someone

could reassure me I haven't messed things up too badly?!

On a more practical note I'd also be very grateful for any advice on how and

when to take the Armour. So far I've been swallowing the pill with water first

thing but is it better to let it dissolve under the tongue and to take it in

half doses morning and midday? How important is it to avoid eating for an hour

after taking? What happens if you stop taking NAX and Vit C? Finally, how do I

know when to try a higher dosage?

Sorry this is so long and contains so many questions. Many thanks for taking the

time to read it and to anyone able to offer advice of any kind.

Hi Miranda, Yes! it's tempting to go mad once you start feeling better, but now you know why your should not increease activity levels too fast! just look at it as being kind to yourself- you've been really ill ( even if noone except Dr. P would admit it) so you can't expect to run a marathon straight away- just rest until you feel better after your busy day and you'll recover- then try to pace yourself a bit more in the future. There's no point taking Armour under your tongue since the formula was changed- take with water an hour before you eat and 2 hours after a meal for later doses- ie empty stomach. See the forum files for 'how to take natural dessicated thyroid- this file was written by Dr. P and should answer all your questions on the score. > thyroid treatment > From: mirandaplatt@...> Date: Thu, 12 May 2011 13:28:34 +0000> Subject: Just started taking Armour and looking for advice.> > Hi all,> > Last week Dr.P said I could swap my dose of 6x NT for 2 grains/ 120 mg Armour.Suddenly I felt amazing! The only problem is that I was so excited to have so much energy again that I went a bit mad doing loads of exercise and am back to feeling completely exhausted today.I'm now paranoid because I've just re-read my advice notes and seen that it says not to to increase excercise too much or overdo things or you could undo any progress made. Dear Miranda, I am delighted that you have found such success

after boosting your adrenal function and taking natural thyroid extract, and

know how wonderful it is to feel that after such a long period of time feeling

so lacking in energy and so ill with the numerous symptoms of hypothyroidism,

you suddenly have stacks of energy and want to do this that, the other and

everything - and all at the same time. It is a shame you have found out the

hard way that you should not jump straight in all at once.

Don't panic! Are you taking Selenium 200mcgs daily, Vitamin C

1/2000mgs daily and Siberian Ginseng. Have you been tested to see where your

levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc

lie. If not, ask your GP to test these because if any of these particular vits/mins.

are low, your thyroid hormone replacement can't work as well as it should until

whatever is low has been supplemented. If this was me, I would try the

experiment of dropping half a Grain (30mgs) of Armour and just take the 1 1/2

grains and see how you feel. Also, if you are not already doing so, split your

dose of Armour twice daily and take half before breakfast, and the other half

around 2.00/3.00p.m. The active T3 that gives you your energy starts to lose

it's potency after around 6 to 8 hours, so many of us need to keep this effect

topped up, so that is why we split our doses. Some take it 3 times daily. Just

take it easy and after a week, you can add back in the other half grain, and

stay on that for at least 3 weeks, when you can add another half grain.

With the new formulae of Armour, you can no longer take it

sublingually unfortunately. The best way is to chomp it up to bits and wash it

down with a big tumbler of water. It is important that you don't take any

thyroid hormone containing thyroxine for about an hour before food, or after

food - so take it as soon as you wake up and before you get dressed. If you go

to our FILES section accessible from the Menu on the Home Page of this forum http://health.groups/group/thyroid treatment

- and on the page that opens, scroll down to the FOLDER 'Natural Thyroid

Extract'. Open that and then open the document 'How to Use Natural Thyroid

Extract, you can read all the information you need there.

Nutri Adrenal Extra is taken to boost your adrenals so that your

thyroid hormone can be fully utilised at the cellular level - where all the

action takes place, and vitamin C is magic - far too many benefits to list

here, but for sufferers of the symptoms of hypothyroidism it is essential to

keep our metabolic system working - you can read about it's many benefits here http://www.vitamincfoundation.org.

It's cheap, you can't overdose on it, once your body has taken from it what it

needs, you pass out the rest in your urine.

Let us know how you get on and good luck Miranda.

Luv - Sheila
