Guest guest
Hello all! I was just wondering if anyone might have some tips as to what I can do with this one... I am on 125mcg Levothyroxine and have been advised by my new doctor to supplement D3 - since there was an insufficiency. Levels will be checked again in two months. Whilst I'm waiting for the D3 supplementation to take effect - nothing yet after one month - I wonder if anyone has any hints as to what I can do about my symptoms worsening a few days before my period starts? I seem to be feeling pretty much okay most of the time, until about three days before my period starts - and then if feels almost as bad as I did when I was first diagnosed... heavy limbs, unbelievable fatigue, brain fog. As soon as my periods start - the symptoms disappear as quickly as they came. Is there something I'm missing, I wonder? I'm supplementing with - D3, Vit C, Selenium, B12, Zinc, Siberian Ginseng and L-Glutamine. Any hints gratefully accepted! Del Cardiff. Guest guest
How much D3 are you taking Del. You need to be on a high dose to get things moving i.e. 4/5000mgs daily. The recommended daily dose is about 450mgs which is a ridiculous amount for those suffering deficiency. I used to have exactly the same symptoms as you before a period and I was absolutely unbearable to boot - with a foul temper and woe betide anybody who got on the wrong side of me. Like you, this lasted about 3 days before the event, but as soon as I had my period, I felt fine. I never did find out the cause and learned to live with it, sorry. However, if anybody can explain this, it would be good to know because my Grand Daughter is now going through the same. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Sheila, I feel much better that this might be a fairly 'normal' occurrence amongst us Hashi's ladies! I'm sure there must be something that will help, though. As soon as it's discovered - I'll let you know, so that you can pass it on to your G-daughter! The Vit D I am taking 2000mgs daily. I wonder if I should boost this up to 4000 for a while? Although, I'm off to Spain for a month with work and will probably be alright on the Vit D front once I'm there. Is there any such thing as too much Vit D? Am I right in thinking that the body just stores it for a rainy day? Thanks, once again - in advance! Del. > > How much D3 are you taking Del.
