Guest guest
Hi Shell When I need an injection at the dentist I always have the "adrenaline free" anaesthetic, as I have a bad reaction to the normal one - my body couldn't cope with the adrenaline and I'd feel awful for 2 days following the injection - like delayed shock or something. I mentioned this to my dentist and she suggested the adrenaline free (normally used for people with heart conditions). This is a lot better for me and I don't get any side effects after an injection now. Something to think about if the injections leave you feeling unwell. Gill x > Hi - I am after some advice please.> I hategoing to the dentist and always have a tough time with the injections and root fillings............ teeth crumbling - it usually happens to me. Now I am hoping that this time it is a straight forward filling as I have a small hole in an exisiting filled tooth.> Would be grateful for any advice > > Thanks> Shell>
Guest guest
Hi Shell, know what you mean! I can't go to the destist now. He causes so much pain. On the local painkiller issue, I can't have the adrenalin in the shots as it goes straight to my heart and causes extremely fast heart rate, and the local doesn't work on me, so I feel pain (though the dentist insists that I can't) I got refered to a specialist clinic who gave me the local without the adrenaline plus some nitrose oxide (laughing gas). I felt no pain at all, and this was during several root fillings. Be careful of the, no doubt, numerous X rays they will want to take, before during and after a root filling (or even some ordinery fillings) we should have our thyroids covered for this, I never have. Good luck. Jan x
Guest guest
Just don't get an amalgam filling, Shell - stick to the white onesotherwise you risk ending up like me with mercury leaking from the filling into the body doing untold damage.Good luck tomorrow, all best Alison

She even helped me by telling me how to breath to try and stay calma dn to close my eyes... so I was really pleased and I came out fo there without any major catastrophy happening to my tooth and so far I feel fine. I am so glad that I posted my question on here and only wish that i had do so years ago - had i known about it that is. the dentist - who is young and new to the practice - was very reasuring and didnt patronise me or leave me thinking that i was some bizarre woman who thought she knew everything!! Guest guest
Hi Shell.... Glad it all went well at the dentist. Do you feel any different from having the adrenaline free anaesthetic? Guest guest
I also bring my iPod and slap that in when they start to work. Focus on the music and you'll be done before you know it. Guest guest
Re: I hategoing to the dentist and always have a tough time with the injections I had my first adrenaline free injection at the dentist yesterday and since then i have felt as 'normal' as i did before i went in!!!!! This is great because I have actually forgotten that i had a filling - and the effect usually last for a week or so. Brilliant - would recomend it to anyone.
