Guest guest
Hi Carol, Well you know that your sister is hypothyroid, we all know that she is judging by her elevated TSH, and most countries in the world would have her treated by now. BUT... if she choses to believe what her badly informed doctor is telling her then you cannot do anything about it. In fact, if you go on about it she will accuse you of being obsessed and will resolutely stick to whatever her doc says. Best thing to do is ignore it, don't mention anything and eventually it will dawn on her that her doctor is not getting her better and that a tsh really ought to be around 1 if on no meds. B12 levels in this country are not treated until they drop to 200. People start to notice the difference when they drop to 400 but the idea is, I think, to let people suffer a bit, so that they will be soooooo grateful when the doctor decides to treat them. (cynical.. me????? noooo...). In Japan they are treated at 600 and a good level to be is over 700..... What level is your sister? I daren't ask..... is it about 10 Hope all is well with you.... Did you manage to get the proper meds in this country? xx > > My sister is a year younger than me - 54 and is having lots of health issues - feeling depressed, anxious, can't leave the house on her own, panic attacksand tingling in her hands and feet. She has been to her doc who has run blood tests and is just telling her she is 'normal' he has done her thyroid function and is telling her, again, normal with a TSH of 3.8 - she feels cold, tired and generally down.... >
