Guest guest
The centre is The British Thyroid Association - now hiding under the umbrella of the 'untouchable' Royal Charter (the Royal College of Physicians) along with all the other Endocrine/Thyroid Institutions. I think we should all shout this from the rooftops, VERY loud and VERY clear. I am certainly not afraid to do this, because we have sent ALL of them references to the masses of scientific evidence that show them they are wrong, wrong, and wrong again in their recommendations regarding the diagnosing and treatment of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, asking them to amend their guidelines and statements accordingly, but they refuse point blank to do so, and fail abysmally to cite references to back up any one single statement they have made. Even the Secretary of the President of the RCP wrote to me to tell me that the President has stated that he would not be entering into any further discussion regarding the subject of hypothyroidism. Should doctors DARE to diagnose and treat out side of their recommendations, heaven help them - and doctors know this. We have doctors actually telling their patients that they dare not do so because they do not want to lose their career and livelihood. I am quite happy to point my finger in their direction because we DO have such scientific evidence which can be produced in any court - should that day come…. The several studies that were carried out involved 900 participants that showed that T4/T3 combination did NOT work better than T4-only therapy. We now have 912 counterexamples on our TPA Register to show that T4-only therapy did NOT work, and that it was only when these patients started some form of T3 therapy, either in addition to T4 or T3 only, that their symptoms were mitigated or went away completely. Somebody, somewhere had better start listening to us, the patients. Luv - Sheila Hi -as far as I see GPs are not to perscribe T3 without permission of an endo . However endos do and therefore a small group of doctors [many not specialist ] have the health of a large part of the population in there hands. I think however there are just a small number of endos at the centre of this and the rest follow . It would be interesting to know who[which endos] really are at the centre of this - as this is really a rediculous situation.
Guest guest
So what are the BTA, RCP, BTF frightened of to let the doctors prescribe T3 etc. LilianOn 30 April 2011 23:45, glynisrose06 <arianrhod@...> wrote: I don't think its all to do with money, there is a huge amount of fear too. Doctors are afraid to treat patients properly because of such agencies as the BTA RCP BTF etc who stand ready to beat them with a big stick!! It has been decided without any patient input or regard to referenced material / clinical trials / medical investigations, that the status quo is blood tests reveal all and NO T3!! Yet (so I read) psychiatrists are allowed to prescribe T3...... Glynis
Guest guest
They care more about the drug companies than patients. Drug companies make their money out of illness. They encourage doctors to give the most appropriate drug for what ails their patient. Patients having the symptoms of hypothyroidism can have a multitude of symptoms - a drug companies dream. Drug companies give out millions of pounds (probably billions) to  organisations such as the BTA, BTF, RCP for their educational seminars, their medical symposiums and their scientific conferences. Roughly half of all education for doctors is sponsored by drug companies. Imagine if all those suffering the symptoms of hypothyroidism were treated with natural thyroid extract - *natural products cannot be patented LOL* or they were given synthetic T3, and their symptoms were mitigated or resolved completely! The pharmaceutical industry has already paid billions of pounds in developing new drugs for all the different symptoms experienced - *we are told over and over that the symptoms of hypothyroidism are non-specific* - so they educate doctors as to what drugs should be given for each symptom. The pharmaceutical companies educate our doctors and keep our doctors happy. Check out the list of symptoms of hypothyroidism below and think of all the drugs that can be given for each one. Most of these can be helped with either levothyroxine-only therapy (if the patient is a good converter), but others simply need some form of T3, synthetic or natural to regain their optimal health. Guest guest
There's always the atomic bomb! Never say die! Luv - Sheila Copernicus had the problem of a difficult proof, although to deal with the geocentric notion requires non-available sources of energy to get planets to reverse course as required by the geocentric concept. (in order to change speed, there is a need to accelerate the body either positively or negatively. And that requires a force, F = M x A. where M is the mass of the planet. AH, it must be an invisible hand, which is quite akin to medicine's rebuke of Semmelweis with " bad humors in the air cause infections.
