> hi tanya

i've tried eliminating known common culprits and was astonished to find that

whenever i have subsequently introduced wheat into my diet without fail i seem

to feel ill, anywhere between 24 & 48 hours later. i'm still keeping my eye on

this as even i can't quite believe that something we are all brought up to eat

so much of has been making me tired, headachy and causing sinus problems.

however, i suspect many of us feel we have multiple issues and that's why we're

left to research experiment and self dagnose as GP's/NHS don't seem to want to

know about non patentable and simple cures, in my case i'm a keen cook and

enjoying the challenge of the many other types of naturally gluten free products

such as chick pea flour for flat breads, etc however, xmas has been a nitemare

of illness as it's hard to completely avoid it in other people's

cooking....although i'll never say no to sittin' wi me feet up while someone

else cooks for me! i'm not too sure about tests for intolerances, i'm not sure

the testing available is sensitive enough, and decided to do a rotation diet

instead, plently of info on the google web 'bout that!

deb xx

ps i can't eat a lot of spuds either, and have had to eat rice instead, my

waistline is thanking me big time!

Do you want to find just a test, or do you want to see someone who will organise

tests, go through results and maybe offer a course of treatment (much more

expensive of course) ?

Have you read " Food Allergies and Intolerance " by Brostoff?

i don't follow the logic ...just because a gp doesn't accept private tests

doesn't mean the money is wasted....the person who has been tested now knows

about x,y, or z intolerance and can take appropriate action to improve their

health.

I agree - the money's not wasted. if a person's intolerant to say, potato, then

the GP would not have any cure for that (correct me if i'm wrong) apart from

saying 'well don't eat potato then', even if they acknowledged the tests as

valid. if all it takes is to avoid potato, then that's all that's necessary?

so, not a waste i don't think. if you're intolerant to say potato and you stop

eating it, you should be feel better.

Hi, Are you thinking of the Vega test? I had that done a few years ago was negative so I don't really know if it was at all helpful. > thyroid treatment > From: stehendie@...> Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2011 17:39:51 +0000> Subject: Re: food intolerances> > You can get linked up to a machine and it can tell you what your food intolerances are.> > > > > >> > Has anyone had food allergies looked into privetly?can you do that?> > .x> >> > > > > ------------------------------------> > TPA is not medically qualified. I have to agree here, I am really intolerant to maize and even after 30 years my

GP doesn't believe or acknowledge it!

Its a pain as I can't take tablets as the filler is usually maize starch and

avoiding it is incredibly hard. I would imagine if you are allergic to potatoes

then that would be just as or even harder to avoid!

Its true though, there is no cure apart from taking a small amount every day and

trying to build your resistance (this method was suggested to me by an

immunologist who told me I was not allergic to maize) though you have to decide

whether you are going to let yourself be ill for as long as it takes!!

i think that Holford said that if you avoided the food you were

intolerant to for six months your body would lose the IgG antibodies? i only

just remembered this. mind you i guess it depends on what antibody you have,

there are different types i think - the prof bristoff book mentiond in this

thread is the best book on food intolerances i've ever read.

You may be interested in this book.....it has helped many with food

intolerances, etc. I have this and have referred to it many times. It has been

correct 99% of the time. You need to know your blood type.

It's very interesting research.
