Georgie, the sale you take MUST be unrefined. We can't stress

that enough. The best unrefined salt has up to 87 minerals in it that your body

needs.

Thank you Jot, that is very helpful. I didn't know about taking salt in water

for the adrenals, will start with that as well. I just feel a bit overwhelmed

and frightened about all the stuff I'm taking which is totally unsupported by

my GP, and just want to check I'm on the right track and not taking the wrong

things or whatever. It is hard when your brain doesn't work properly anymore!!!

Takes me a long time to process information and make sense of it.

Thanks again,

Georgie :)

….and what are you taking for y our adrenals Georgie - you

should not be starting thyroid meds before you have been on some adrenal

supplements for at least 7 days.

Luv - Sheila

Hi, are you talking about the adrenal saliva test? If so, I have already done that

and the results came back very low indeed. I know my TSH is massively high - I

am taking erfa and hopefully it will come down soon.

Thanks a lot,

Georgie :)

Rest assured - your serum cortisol test will show a

'normal' result. This is only a snapshot of what is going on at that particular

time - you need too know what is happening at 8.00a,n, - 12 Noon 0 4.00p.n. and

again at midnight. I am certain you will not be referred for a short synacthen

test. However, if you are, this is usually a complete waste of time as it only

checks to see whether you are suffering from 's Disease (too little or

no cortisol secretion) or Cushing's Syndrome (too high a secretion of cortisol)

and will NOT show whether you have low adrenal reserve. Doctors don't appear to

even recognise the different steps needed to reach a diagnose either of these

conditions, so if you don't have 's or Cushing's - sorry, but you will

be told you don't have an adrenal problem. You need to get the 24 hour salivary

adrenal test from Genova Diagnostics, and if you can't afford it, and many of

us can't unfortunately, you should do the Adrenal Questionnaire in our Files

section.

I haven't been taking anything for my adrenals, because I was trying to get the

GP to do SST - however, on the endo's advice, she is only doing serum cortisol

and will refer for SST if that is abnormal.

So, do you think it's the lack of adrenal support that is holding me back? I

want to start HC but will wait for results of serum cortisol test, just in case

GP decides to send me for SST (seems unlikely, but you never know!)

Georgie :)
