Guest guest
Hello- Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I have the same thing in my joints. I would consult with your doctor but I can let you know what I do to relieve my symptoms. I am on Gleevec 800 mg and have intense muscle aches and bone pain. On days when its really not tolerable I use Ibuprofen 600 mg as well as I soak in a hot bath. It seems to work well for me. I have used Lidoderm patches from my doctor but they work best on a specific area and when your whole leg hurts, it's really not useful. Sometimes in the first 2-3 months as your Gleevec is hammering away at the cells in your marrow, things can really be uncomfortable. It should reduce as your counts go back to a normal range and your marrow settles down. The shock of the Gleevec in the beginning can be pretty intense. Just know that it is a good sign that you are having the muscle and bone pain as it is said to show that the Gleevec is working. That is what I was told at least. Hang in there. Listen to your body and rest when you need to rest. Stay warm and don't push yourself too hard. There is an adjustment period to go through. Take it day by day. - 34 CML 5/13/05 Gleevec 800 mg Wife and mother of 3 (11,8,6) 3 log reduction

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
I too have joint pain, mostly in my hands. I Have CML since 6/06. I am on 400 mgs of Gleevec, am in Zavie's 0 club and hope I stay there after my cytogenetic blood test on tuesday. My doctor told me to take calcium which I do but not every day. Since I am taking it every day the I don't have the pain as much or as often. I will be 74 in April. I thought the pain was arthritic but it is strictly a side affect . Ask your doctor for his advice. Ceil Bronx, NY

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to
Guest guest
Hi Efrem, Bone and joint pain are common Gleevec side effects. If the pain is bearable, give it some more time. Side effects do lessen with time.
