Hello All. Found this site last week and finally found some people who have the

same as me - I am not alone - yipee!! I am a 58 year old who has underactive

thyroid for the past 10 years and still feels ill although take 125mcg of

levothyroxine and docs say I should be ok!!

Unfortunately I also have psoriatic arthritis and that gets a lot of the blame.

I am sure my chronic fatigue, bad nails, bad hair and a lot of general aches and

pains are from thyroid problem but everything gets blamed on arthritis.

I have had arthritis since 17 so know the difference - the docs dont, but I have

found it pointless even trying to talk to them about it now. I had 3 kids (all

grown and left now), pets, full time job for years and managed with the

arthritis - but the thyroid problem seems to have knocked all the stuffing and

energy out of me. Some days I get dressed and potter for the day and am

knackered! I have good days - but still nothing like the energy I used to, or

should, have. My doc just prescribes the tablets - lovely man but you do have to

ask for anything.

I have high blood pressure (caused by immume suppressants for athritis) and the

docs surgery dont even bother checking that let alone thryoid. I am fed up with

being fobbed off now as have been advised to go on another drug (adalimumab) for

arthritis so will now push for thyroid check etc. After reading all the posts

on here it seems I am not the only one with problems that levothyroxine doesnt

clear up.

Help - where do I start please? Presumably by getting new thyroid check but

should I ask for anything else? My doc did do vit D check because I kept

constantly complaining of fatigue and that was 14 if I remember correctly so am

on Vit D tablets. My rheumatologist did send me to an endo quite a few years

ago but she gave me a water test (where I collected urine for 24 hours) - said

something about diabetes inspidus and that was it!

My rheum would arrange another appointment if I asked but what do I ask or

suggest on it? Does anyone else have suggestions please? I am so glad I have

found this site - heres hoping! Colleen
