Guest guest
Hi all, can somebody please answer a question for me. Dr. Peatfield has told my daughter to take hydrocortisone for her adrenals and has suggested the dosage. She has been on NAX for about 4 months and I believe she takes 5 a day. Should she continue to take the NAX whilst on cortisone or perhaps cut down or stop whilst on cortisone? Is there anything else she should know in general concerning the taking of cortisone apart from the obvious care in dosage and timing? Any advice on the best/cheapest/quickest supplier of hydrocortisone. Many thanks for any help....
Guest guest
Quite often Dr Peatfield does recommend that if you have been taking Nutri Adrenal Extra, that you continue to take some when starting hydrocortisone. Trying to find the cheapest, quickest supplier of HC may not necessarily be the best way to go, some of the generics of Cortef can be less potent but some of the other members here already taking HC will be able to help you with the best supplier etc. She needs to take high doses of vitamin C (at least to bowel tolerance) e.g. 4/5000mgs daily. Also, she should take 1 tablet of Siberian Ginseng (Siberian being the best) and possibly tincture of liquorice drops (check out our FILES section and scroll down the folders to 'Discounts one Tests and Supplements'. Being a member of TPA you can get a discount of 33% from Nutri Ltd. Luv - Sheila Dr. Peatfield has told my daughter to take hydrocortisone for her adrenals and has suggested the dosage. Guest guest
Hi , I started on hydrocortisone 3 weeks ago and have tried 2 different suppliers - mainly to see how speedy the delivery was and to try out the different brands. I have had 1 delivery of cortef from international pharmacy and it arrived in a week. I have ordered several batches of generic hc from inhouse pharmacy - the first batch arrived within a week and I am still waiting after 3 weeks for the second batch! So the postal speed would seem to vary. I think the answer will be build up a few months' stock in case of postal or other problems.Cortef is definitely more potent but also more expensive. I've decided to use Cortef to begin with for maximum effect as I have had to go onto quite a high dose - but I hope later on to go onto the generic hc which is cheaper - that's the theory anyway. The websites: http://www.internationalpharmacy.com/en/homehttp://www.inhousepharmacy-europe.com/index.htmlOh about NAX - I've cut my NAX down to 3 (from 6) while I'm on HC.Best wishes AlisonPS. I'm also going to make sure I carry a spare jar in my handbag at all times and probably get an armband - in case of emergencies. The adrenal site gave me a dosing schedule which was absolutely spot on. The moderators are having a break until 16 May, I think but after that it may be well worth while contacting them - you'll need saliva test results for that.>> Hi all, can somebody please answer a question for me. Guest guest
Hi Alison, thanks for your help and info. I'll probably go for the cortef then at least to start off with and have a bash at choosing the best pharmacy tomorrow as I am too dopey at this time of evening...cheers Val > > Hi , I started on hydrocortisone 3 weeks ago and have tried 2 > different suppliers - mainly to see how speedy the delivery was and to > try out the different brands. > > >
Guest guest
I would recommend your daughter carry on taking 2 Nutri Adrenal Extra with her cortisol because these tablets are packed with excellent vitamins/minerals needed to support her adrenal glands. Luv - Sheila Thank you Sheila, yes my daughter is already on Siberian ginseng,Vit C 5000mg and tincture of liquorice (and everything else) so it was just the Nutri Adrenal Extra that I wondered should she cut down a bit whilst on cortisone and if so how much? Thanks _,___
