Guest guest
I have seen both and would choose dr P. Dr S only looked at blood cortisol and said my adrenals were fine. Where as dr P looked at 24 hour saliva test and decided HC was needed. Dr S put me on T4 which did nothing but most probably contribute to my RT3 problem as my adrenals and iron were both extremely low. Dr P had my on Armor but then after speaking with him about it we decided to go on T3 only. One thing i will point out is that i seen Dr S first then dr P about 2 years later, so in that time i had learned ALOT about treating thyroid ect ect so had i had that same knowledge when i went to see Dr S my appointment mite of been alot different. Guest guest
Both are quite brilliant and have given health/life back to literally hundreds of NHS failures. If you know definitely you don't have an adrenal problem, or, if you do and you are happy to treat it yourself through the recommendations and information that we have in our FILES section of this forum web site or our main web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk , and if Birmingham is OK for you to get to, then Dr Skinner will do everything he can to help you. If you feel you do have an adrenal problem going along with your symptoms, and you don't feel confident enough to treat this yourself, then go for Dr Peatfield who runs metabolic clinics in different parts of the UK (see our web site for details). Remember also that there are often other conditions associated with the symptoms of hypothyroidism that must be checked and if required, treated, otherwise no amount of thyroid hormone is able to be properly utilised. Such other conditions are - low adrenal reserve, systemic candidiasis, mercury poisoning (caused through amalgam fillings),low levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. The first three you would have to get tested for privately, the last 5, ask your GP to test these. Good luck, whichever road you choose to go down. Luv - Sheila Hi everyone, I am guessing that there are people on the board that have seen either, or both, of these doctors. I am considering seeing one of them. Does anyone have any input? I would be grateful to hear what you have to say about these doctors to enable me to choose which one to see! Be well,
Guest guest
How did the forum come to know these doctors (P and S) and why the recommendations to see them. I see Dr Peatfield states " Please note that I relinquished my registration with the GMC " which in itself is some concern is it not? Have any checks been made on who they are, apart from doctors who clearly listen, unlike the NHS counterparts, but at £140 per hour I too would be much more willing to listen, but does that make them good or are they just humouring us? Any one got better using them? Cheers > > Hi everyone, > > I am guessing that there are people on the board that have seen either, or both, of these doctors. Guest guest
Ah I see the answer here http://www.whale.to/a/132.html and a general google search on peatfield reveals the apparent truth. We all know GMC/NHS hardly have our best interest at heart in anything they do, so it's no wonder they did not like his approach. That alone is recommendation enough we should take up his approach > > How did the forum come to know these doctors (P and S) and why the recommendations to see them. Guest guest
I agree completely and it's quite clear the guy, and many others have been the subject of a kangeroo court. The *system* is rotten and medical *profession* especially so. In 20 years of kidney disease it's quite clear they have zero interest in the patient until the engine packs up completely, they don't want to know *why* we are ill, they just want to feed us drugs and treat symptoms. No doubt due to the brainwashing medical students receive from drug company sponsorship of lessons, medical books etc. The medical profession killed my father due to neglect in hospital in 1998 and it's still happening today. The same with various elderly friends and relatives. They don't care about the old, frail or vulnerable, worse they don't even know how to handle patients any more! If it was a garage we'd have boycotted them long ago as being next to useless. When I take my car in I want to know why it's playing up and get a proper quick fix. I don't want to wait until I need a new engine because! Google is a great resource and the only way to get the truth out there is to keep talking about it. Mind you sadly I think this forums posts are invisible unless you're a subscriber, which is a shame. We really are one our own when it comes to health only we play dumb and limit our curiousity to which colour smartie doctor will give us today if we're good! Bah humbug. Viva la revolucion! PS: Obviously there are many good people in the medical profession. Though I have yet to meet more than one that offered anything more than lip service. > > Pete, > > People get scared when they know a doctor has been brought before the GMC > and start to doubt the doctors competence and believe dark dealings must > have been going on. Guest guest
I have seen both Dr P and Dr S and both are brilliant doctors who listen and understood my symptoms. I had thyroid cancer at 28yrs old (now 32) and have problems with thyroid conversion and adrenals. If it wasnt for Dr S I wouldnt have come off the Levothyroxine and still would be another planet with an endless list of symptoms. He gave me hope. I then saw Dr P as I felt he could help me with my adrenal and thyroid problems. I was amazed. He listened, he did various tests and looked through all my test results. He put a plan together for me and he is working with me to get me better.... Dr P IS MY SAVIOUR and I thank him so much for giving me my life back. If I feel unwell I make an appointment to talk to him and we tweak my medication. I trust his diagnosis and believe in him. I have never put my faith in any other doctor I have seen and believe my there have been alot. I also had the pleasure in meeting Sheila whilst Dr P was at the cottage.... thank you Shiela for all the hard work you do to help people like me Love to you all Donna xxxxx > > Well said Sheila! > Love Ina >
