Guest guest
Hi Mark, I haven't started T3 yet. Just waiting - Dr P has also said I'll need to go on it so I'm just waiting for the pills to arrive and to see Dr P in 2 weeks time. He said I just don't have enough cortisol to convert T4 to T3 - I don't know if that's the same as resistance. Will be interested to hear how you get on. What dose are you starting on? Are you on NAX aswell or hydrocortisone?Best wishes Alison>> Hi,> > Dr P has started me on T3 only for thyroid resistance, just wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similar experience?>
Guest guest
Hi Mark, I changed to T3 9 months ago because of thyroid resistance. I'd recommend Nick T3 website for advice on changing to T3. http://thyroid-rt3.com/ Judy > > Hi, > > Dr P has started me on T3 only for thyroid resistance, just wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similar experience? > > Cheers, > > Mark >

Dont be frightened of it, it really helps..Sally xx Oh and I agree about the web site below....xx I'd recommend Nick T3 website for advice on changing to T3. http://thyroid-rt3.com/> Dr P has started me on T3 only for thyroid resistance, just wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similar experience? Guest guest
Hi Alison, Thanks for replying. I am on 3 NAX every morning, HC and I'm on 12.5mcg of T3. So far no effects good or bad (except the HC which I already knew makes me tired). This week I up the dose to 25mcg... But actually it doesn't sound like you have resistance, just conversion problems! Cheers, Mark > > Hi Mark, I haven't started T3 yet. Guest guest
Thanks Judy. Actually I am not " changing " but starting for the first time straight on T3 (never had thyroid hormones before). Guest guest
Hi Sally, Thanks for the advice. I think my problem is more that I am impatient and want to increase the dose faster! But I know that is a bad idea, so I am following Dr P's advice. Actually the main website I have been using is: http://www.drlowe.com/ which I recommend if no one has seen it. I think Dr Lowe recommends T3 only for thyroid resistance. Have you got a standard hypothyroidism as well as resistance? Cheers, Mark > > > > > > I take both NDT with additional 40mcgs of T3....its fab....do it slowly and > gently and split the dose I think is the secret with T3...find your own personal > best way of taking it. Dont be frightened of it, it really helps..Sally xx Oh > and I agree about the web site below....xx > >  >  I'd recommend Nick T3 website for advice on changing to T3. > http://thyroid-rt3.com/ > > > > Dr P has started me on T3 only for thyroid resistance, just wondering if there > >is anyone else out there with a similar experience? >
Guest guest
You are not alone Mark, there are many, many sufferers of the symptoms of hypothyroidism who are suffering with thyroid hormone resistance at the cellular level and who need 3 only. Be guided by Dr P, and read Pritchard's papers in our web site, you will find them all under 'Information for Physicians' www.tp-auk.org.uk Luv - Sheila Dr P has started me on T3 only for thyroid resistance, just wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similar experience? Guest guest
Hi Mark, Yes that is always a problem...patience...tehe. I think most of us could do with more and since we know it will help us feel better of course there is an incentive to improving ASAP...!! tehe. But patience is most definately the key word here...and you know that so sit on your hands and let your body do what it has to do in its own good time....its like waiting for Christmas when your a kid. xx Yes I know that site. Excellent. I have a conversion problem it seems.....although I will try time and again to reduce the T3 and see if I can...maybe as my body 'heals' itself this MAY improve...I am hoping anyhow! tehe. Guest guest
12.3mcgs T3 is a very baby dose. How long have you been taking this dose and when has it been recommended that you increase this to 25mcgs? Luv - Sheila Hi Alison, Thanks for replying. Guest guest
Hi Mark I'd be interested to know what your results were? Are you going to be taking any other meds? chris > > Cheers Sheila, nice to know and I will look forward to reading that stuff. > > Mark
Guest guest
Hi All of my thyroid results are in the middle of the reference ranges and no antibodies - i.e. I am euthyroid. I will dig them out if you want the numbers. My cortisol and DHEA showed up low on a saliva test: Cortisol: Sample 1: 9.5 (12-22) Sample 2: 5.0 (5.0-9.0) Sample 3: 4.6 (3.0-7.0) Sample 4: 1.5 (1.0-3.0) Total Daily Cortisol: 20.6 (21-41) Mean DHEA: 0.2 (0.4-1.47) DHEA to Cortisol Ratio: 0.97 (2.0-6.0) Cheers, Mark > > > > Cheers Sheila, nice to know and I will look forward to reading that stuff. > > > > Mark >
Guest guest
That's fine Mark - you might even find that you need even more than 100mcgs T3. if ever you reach a stage when you find yourself suddenly suffering with palpitations, sweating, getting dizzy, feeling 'spaced out' and generally hypERthyroid symptoms between 2 to 3 hours after taking an increase in the morning, then don't take any more that day, and the following day, go back to the dose you were on before the latest increase. This is the way your body finds out exactly how much T3 it actually needs. As the dose gets higher, you might find it better to take your T3 in three or even four doses throughout the day. Luv - Sheila I have only been taking it for 5 days! After the first week I am to double the dose, then I have another appointment. I have read that some people with thyroid resistance go as far as 100mcgs. It will be interesting to see how far I have to go over the coming months. Cheers, Mark

Guest guest
Are you taking Thyroxine only supplement? If so this can commonly cause a raised T4 and raised rT3..... Its likely you need some supplement with T3 contained in it. Sally xx Further tp my last reply, this morning got my first ever rT3 results and it is high, so looks like I've got a rT3 problem. Guest guest
Hi Mark; There are a number of us about with thyroid resistance, At the moment I take 125 mcg T3 daily. I did develop rt3 problems on Thryoid S/T3 last year and went on T3 only in October. (I use the mexican Cynomel). Whilst clearing my rT3 I got up to 175 mcg T3 very briefly with no hyper symptoms at all. After clearing I leveled out at 125mcg T3. I noted that you don't have rt3 but can I suggest you have a look at the rt3-t3 site. It is a fountain of information particularly for those of us that need high doses of thyroid meds. I was fortunate enough to see the lovely Dr. Peatfield a few years ago and certainly credit him and this site for giving me back my life. You won't go wrong by following his guidelines. Kind regards Jane > > > > Hi Mark, then I'm sure you see a big difference in your health. It's still a good website for T3 info though. Judy > > > > > Thanks Judy. Guest guest
Hi Mark not sure if Im resistant or not. I took smaller doses of thyroxine and my TSH went down instead of up so somethings wrong, just not clear what yet, also have adrenal exhaustion and low T3 so think Im probably in there somewhere! Carole > > Hi, > > Dr P has started me on T3 only for thyroid resistance, just wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similar experience? > > Cheers, > > Mark >
Guest guest
Hi there, the TSH will go down if on the right dose of thyroid medicines. if it go`s up then this is a sign that you may be under medicated. or their could be some other reason.! Angel.
