Hi Bernie ,

I started on 5mcg , and felt a lot better after a few weeks , I'm now on 10 mcg

..

Why are self med; will your GP or Endo not give them to you ? Do be careful and

get your bloods checked after 6 weeks to make sure that your ok as you can do

more harm than good if you don't need them .

Best wishes Jan Xx

Hi Bernie, before starting any thyroid hormone replacement it is

vital that you know your adrenals are functioning well and in a good state.

This is because taking thyroid hormone cannot be absorbed at cellular level if

you are suffering with adrenal fatigue (low adrenal reserve) and you are likely

to get symptoms of toxicity. If in doubt, and if this was me, I would buy some

Nutri Adrenal Extra from Nutri Ltd and start myself on 1 tablet daily (with

breakfast) for 7 days, and then add 10mcgs T3 on the 8th day. You need to also

start taking 2/3000mgs Vitamin C, Siberian Ginseng and liquorice tincture which

will help support the adrenals. When you add the T1, take another Nutri Adrenal

Extra with your lunch (never take these after 1.00p.m. in case you are kept

awake at night). If you get no adverse effects with the T3 (i.e. palpitations,

feeling dizzy, sweating, feeling spaced out and generally hyPER), it is usual

to increase the dose of T3 by another 10mcgs after about 10 to 14 days. It is

usual to increase in this way until you find the dose that makes your symptoms

disappear.

You can keep increasing the Nutri Adrenal Extra every 10 days or

so if you feel the need and you can take up to 6 tablets daily, but if you need

more, this is usually an indication you need something stronger, such as

Isocort or even Hydrocortisone, but most people do well on 2 to 3 tablets

daily.

If ever you get adverse reaction to taking T3, don't take any

more that day, and the following day, reduce your dose back to where it was

before your last increase.

Always take T3 in a split dose, half when you wake and the other

half around the middle of the afternoon. You can take T3 with food as it is not

affected, unlike T4.

Luv - Sheila

Bernie,

It depends how much t4 you're currently taking, Suggest you reduce the t4 by

50 mcg and replace with 10 of T3. If you're adrenals are in bad shape it

doesn't matter how much t3 or t4 you take it won't make you feel any better.

I would try the t3 for a week and if you don't feel any better, check the

adrenals. When I changed from T4 only to t4/t3 combination I felt a lot

better within days..... It was about 7 years ago. Since then I've had

adrenal problems which I'm working on, and have stopped the t4 /t3 and opted for

NT.

If you take it carefully it's not half as bad as people will have you believe,

the t3 doesn't suddenly fizz, bang and send you off like a rocket!!! :)

People who take a lot ... tend to be the ones with no thyroid and / or graves.

I believe they become resistant. For the rest of us, 10/20 mcg seems to do

it....

HI JAN

Are your T3 in 5mcg tabs, and were they prescribed or did you self purchase

them. If they were prescribed was there any problems getting them prescribed. If

you purchased them and they are 5mcg tabs where did you get them from. The T3

online are 25mcg which is more than I would want and cutting them into small

pieces is not that reliable for judging dosage.
