Guest guest
I switched from 120 mcg Synthroid to 90 mg of NDT back in March of 2010 after not having any significant improvement on the Synthroid. Unfortunately my levels have increased since my last testing just prior to switching. My TSH is now high at 26.220 and T3 is also high at 167 with T4 being low at 0.42. Of course my Dr. is saying I should go back to Synthroid but I am still hesitant to do so because my energy levels are still higher than they were on Synthroid. Hi, I am guessing, but this sounds to me like an rT3 issue. Since your TSH is high, there is not sufficient FT3 getting into your cells; but since your T3 is high and T4 low it suggests that there is conversion taking place..... only it might be a conversion from T4 to rT3 rather than FT3. Reverse T3 will block FT3 from getting into the cells – hence your TSH rising.... To my mind an rT3 test (reverse T3) might be telling you what's going on. If you had an rT3 issue, then you may have to switch to a T3-only therapy for a while until the blockage is cleared. Best wishes,
