Guest guest
Hi Han, the TSH don`t mean much as it can be anywhere in the reference range, but around 1.0 would be good. the T4 is to low and also the T3. the T3 needs to be at the top of range and the T4 about the middle. the best tests are the Free T3 and auto-antibodies ,.Angel. Guest guest
The best test for you thyroid hormone is how you feel. Numbers do not reflect how we feel...isnt that what we are all screaming about? Dont get hung up on numbers..how do you feel is what you need to get hung up about (you probably are if your hypo anyhow..but you know what I mean)......Take temperature test that is the best diagnostic tool....and just appease your doc with the blood tests but not yourself. sally xx Hi Han, the TSH don`t mean much as it can be anywhere in the reference range, but around 1.0 would be good. the T4 is to low and also the T3. the T3 needs to be at the top of range and the T4 about the middle. the best tests are the Free T3 and auto-antibodies ,.Angel. Guest guest
Hi Han, It looks much like she does need treatment. You will only know if her doc will treat her when she consults with 'him'. One thing she may need to support her adrenal glands...but also check she isnt yeast infected. Thre may have been a trigger such as infections. Sally xx As I suffer from Hypo as did my mother I decided to get my daughter(30yrs)checked as she is constantly tired. Here are her results from Lab21.FT3 4.6 (3.0-6.2)FT4 10.9 (12.0-22.0)TSH 3.2 (0.4-4.0)As her FT4 is below the range and her TSH is highish but not over the range is aGP likely to prescribe Thyroxine? I think she does need to be on thyroidreplacement therapy given her symptoms (and her blood results) She lives inGlasgow. Any advice would be gratefully received, has anyone else had similarresults and commenced on medication?ThanksHan
Guest guest
Hi Han I agree that your daughters results look like they could be responsible at least in part for her tiredness. I started feeling quite profound fatigue a few years back, my TSH was 2.0 at that time. I thought no more of it. My fatigue progressed to me being more or less housebound, my TSH at that time was 3.5. I was led to believe that I had CFS but I recently had another batch of tests which show my TSH is now 5.6 and my fT4 12.4 (12-20). Even with these numbers my GP is currently refusing to prescribe treatment and has me on a recall/monitor system to have my levels checked again in 3 months. I'm obviously not happy about this and asked what they'd need to get to " qualify " for treatment and he said TSH above 10! But due to also being found to have abnormally high prolactin i'm going to see an Endo soon so fully intend to voice my case re Hypo then and try to get treatment. Anyway, I don't want to frighten you or your daughter but its worth going to your GP well prepared and strong and with questions as I suspect at those levels they won't give meds. It would be worth trying to get the antibodies done as well because if positive I imagine that would give more leverage. I will have them done at the next blood test.
