Guest guest
Sorry if this appears to be a long posting!! Have had serious reactions to Levothyroxine for the past six months altho. it appears they were coming on slowly for the last ten years. Finally in Jan, my palpitations, sweats, headaches, diahrrea all became too much so I stopped taking Levo. Saw an Endo. and he said leave it off for a cpl months. I felt great for a few weeks, then had to start again, so took tiniest dose 12.5mg. All symptoms returned within hours. Since then have had battles with all drs. concerned, I pursuaded them to let me try 'purified' levo. solution as York tests have shown I have a number of food intolerances. This was even worse, took 5 mins. for all symptoms to re-appear. So all told, I havent had a complete dose of Levo. since Jan 2011. Yesterday morning I took a quarter grain of Nature-Throid from Canada and I still got all symptoms again within cpl. hours. One of the symptoms I've been having since trying to allow for the food intolerances is a horrible burning pain to the side of my spine/across the muscle to my left shoulder. Does anyone have any idea whether this could be something to do with thyroxine/cortisol/adrenal/hypoglycemia? I'm really desperate to think I can't even take a NDT - what to I do next. Thanks. Guest guest
Please keep me posted. I get quite a lot of burning pain in my back between the shoulder blades. If you discover what it is I'd be interested to know. Guest guest
Sounds as if you need to be tested specifically for intolerances to the actual fillings in levothyroxine and Nature Throid and I would talk to your doctor about this. I have attached a document for you to read as to the many associated conditions that go along with the symptoms of hypothyroidism that stop any thyroid hormone from being properly utilised at the cellular level - some of these may account for your condition and being unable to take thyroid hormone replacement because I cannot understand how you could have such a bad reaction to the pure form of thyroxine. Can you tell us exactly what was in this pure Thyroxine please. The company who made this will tell you. Do I take it you are talking about dale's Pure Thyroxine? The pain you describe may (or may not be) fibromyalgia. This is caused when there is insufficient of the ACTIVE thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3) in your system. You may not need T4 at all (you appear to have plenty but not being converted) and you may actually need T3 alone. Again however, you would need to find whether you are intolerant to the any of the fillers in T3. Again, talk to your endocrinologist about this and see if he is willing to give you a trial. Have you spoken to your doctor about this pain and is there anything you recognise in the discussion taking place here http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Back--Neck/Left-shoulder-blade-muscle-stinking--sharp--burning-pain/show/5511 Do check to see whether you are suffering with: low adrenal reserve, systemic candidiasis, mercury poisoning caused through amalgam fillings, LOW LEVELS OF; ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate. copper, zinc. Your doctor should give you blood tests to check these levels. Guest guest
MODERATED TO REMOVE PREVIOUS MESSAGE ALREADY READ. PLEASE DELETE MOST OF THESE AND LEAVE JUST A SMALL PORTION OF WHAT YOU ARE RESPONDING TO. MANY THANKS. LUV - SHEILA ____________________________________________________________ Thanks for your reply Sheila. No I'm not referring to the dales purified Levo. a Private GP recommended that my regular GP prescribed: Evotox Oral Solution. Contents are: Levothyroxine as the active ingredient. Inactive's are: Glycerol, citric acid monohydrate, sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E219) and purified water. For your info. my intolerances were in the main to: Cows Milk, Gluten, Wheat, and several types of fish. It appered to me that none of the ingredients were likely to give me a problem. With your response regarding vitamin and mineral deficiencies, I feel this would really be a possibility, because I seem to recall at some time many years ago, I did experience the type of pain I'm having at the moment, but it was not nearly so severe or continuous as it is at present and ultimately it appeared to go and I don't know really what resolved it. I have to say, my gut instinct is to get back to my regular diet and see if it resolves, but of course that is not taking into account the fact that I'm still not actually taking the Thyroxine (in any form) that I need. During the last few months, I did have a couple of days when I was instructed to take only T3, which I did, but also had a horrible reaction to that as well. Thanks for your guidance. I will try to look into where to get vitamin and mineral testing done, as my Endo. has stated he is only concerned with the level of Thyroxine showing my blood tests and is not concerned with any of the other reactions I'm experiencing!!
