Guest guest
The thyroxine (T4) is a mainly inactive thyroid hormone that has to convert to the active thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3). It is T3 our body and brain needs and not T4. There is a large minority of us who started out OK on levothyroxine-only but then it suddenly stopped working and if this is what is happening to you, you will need to take synthetic T3 (Liothyronine/Cytomel) either added to your T4 or T3 alone. Some of us take natural desiccated porcine thyroid extract which contains T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. Check out the attached document to see whether you could be suffering from one of these associated conditions - you will have to do this through a process of elimination. The 24 hour salivary adrenal profile and test to see whether you have candida antibodies you will have to get tested privately, but your GP should check out your ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Once you get these test results, post them on the forum together with the reference range for each test done and we will help with their interpretation and then take it from there. Luv - Sheila Hi i was great on levothyrox all through my pregnancy started on it the week before i got pregnant Its now 3 months after i had baby, after reducing my dose from 175 to 150 then 125 i have crashed. Symptoms are back with avengance, doc said give it 4 weeks and we will re check levels it takes time to adjust. i took 150 mcg levo instead 125 for 3 days on my own back cause felt so bad, but i felt as though i was going to have heart attack. what i want to know is will things eventually right itself or could it be a problem with t3 or has levothy stopped working is this normal after baby? really appreceate any help:-)
Guest guest
Hi, I can not seem to find attached document, and is it not just easier to ask the doc for cytomel and if that doesnt work then ask doctor for all the other tests as i am not sure if they will test for all the ferritin b12 and all that. How do i get a salivary test? and I forgot to mention I had a blood transfusion with birth of baby and now have E antibodies could this effect anything as is was proved through thyroid blood test that it started with auto imune Thankyou > > The thyroxine (T4) is a mainly inactive thyroid hormone that has to convert to the active thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3).
