Guest guest
I had expected that the article would appear in the Health section, in which case it should not be subject to being spiked at the last minute. It is in this section that other articles about thyroid issues have appeared. I hope you get an explanation soon...and that it holds water. Guest guest
Hi Sheila It is a disappointment but I would have been more peeved if I'd found another article written by Barbour instead. As you say, onward and upwards and we will persevere with this. Please let us know what you find out on Monday, or whenever you are able to speak with him. We will get there... I've always believed that things happen for a reason, but am looking forward to his explanation. Guest guest
That sucks!!! Let's hope that it will be in next Sunday's paper. It's about time someone took notice of our plight. Your hard work will pay off, Sheila! Onwards and upwards! Guest guest
HI SHEILA I did my duty in trotting down to the papershop to buy the Sunday Mail, and was going to send you a message that I could not find this article, but your email came in to me first. I too am having problems in getting an Advocate from ICAS, as I have stated that I want the remarks from Psychiatrists about being a DELUDED HYPOCHONDRIAC removed from my records and a letter of apology placed into my record. ICAS told me the they would not be able to get these remarks removed. How can this be when some of my early records have in fact been removed. All this is causing a problem in obtaining a correct diagnoses. I have also suffered from drugs prescribed to me by Psychiatrist, and will stand my ground on not having any more drugs that will cause me more problems. I think that THE MENTAL HEALTH are retaliating against the fact that I have refused any more drugs by withdrawing CPN support, and I have to think the same of ICAS, but will perhaps know more on this tomorrow as I have to contact ICAS again. I have also told ICAS that my complaint consists of how all THYROID PATIENTS are treated and it will consist about getting proper tests and treatment for all thyroid patients. I also feel that many have been harmed further by drugs prescibed, with some becoming addicted to the drugs. I also know how my Brother Micheal and my sister Daphne were treated by their GP'S. I think eventually we will have to resort to a DEMO to get the care we need. Another thought about these promised articles is the fact that THE MAIL costs £1.50, in turn promised articles cause people to buy papers so could this be a way they have of selling their papers, so be wary of this. Guest guest
I searched through the paper in the papershop, to no avail! Then, a lady came in wanting a copy of the Mail ~ I had had the last one ~ so I sold it in the papershop for a 33% discount. Well, it was the last 'bent and battered' copy! Guest guest
Bob, that is hilarious. I wish I had such foresight. I also searched through the paper in the paper shop and when I realised it was in the magazine which was wrapped in plastic, I just bought it and went on my merry way. Maybe I should have read it there and demanded a refund! Guest guest
I have been looking after nexts door cat and she has The Mail delivered on Sundays so I searched thorugh it all and couldn't find the article. Then I came on the forum and realised it hadn't been printed. Hope my neighbour doesn't mind I've opened the plastic bit to look at the mags. But I am feeding the cat so think it will be OK! I'm so sorry for all the work you have put in Sheila and hope it will be printed at a later date. Judy > > Bob, that is hilarious. I wish I had such foresight. Guest guest
Sheila we have had autism articles pulled within hours before going to press for nothing more than political reasons, interviews with Sky and BBC pulled an hour before they were supposed to start, as we all know governments do not run the world, pharma does, though hoping this is just a newsday move, you do such important work Mandi x In a message dated 26/06/2011 09:56:38 GMT Daylight Time, sheila@... writes:
Guest guest
At first, I thought it was me and I couldn't find the article. When my hubby looked through the paper and the supplements, we thought that I had the wrong date. I really hope this isn't some sort of censorship. Good luck Sheila and I hope you get a proper explanation. I wonder if there is a reason and if it'll be published next week instead. If all else fails, in the worst case scenario, perhaps try a different newspaper? Fiona
Guest guest
Disappointing...it seems we have been *eclipsed* again. Next Sunday would be a better time for it anyway, I hope they consider it for next week..... Regrets, :0( JOT

Guest guest
yes, fight we will!i'm going to see a chief executive of CAB and a PALS helpline worker, in the next month hopefully, for more background/ideas about how best to raise our profile and make ourselves indispensable to other agencies!deb xxFrom: SheilaT <sheila@...>Subject: Article 'Mail on Sunday' - NOT PUBLISHEDthyroid treatment Date: Sunday, 26 June, 2011, 8:56 Dear Member, I have just learned that the promised article about the diagnosis and treatment of those with symptoms of hypothyroidism has not been published by the Mail on Sunday today. I have neither been contacted by Barbour, the journalist or been given any reason why this has not happened. I had been away on holiday and when I returned, there was a message on my answerphone telling me the article was to appear on Sunday 19th, and I thought I had missed it and tried to find out where I could buy the paper. I also looked online to see if the article had been published there. The day I returned from holiday, phoned to say he had given me the wrong date by mistake, and that the Editor had told him the story was to be published this Sunday 26th. I will telephone him tomorrow (Monday) to find out the reason why it has not appeared. I am fully aware that if more important news comes in before an article has been 'put to bed' that the 'new' news has to take priority, and previously promised articles get pushed down the line - and this may be what has happened. I am extremely disappointed about this as we have been trying for years to get our side of the story into the media, as I am sure you all are too - but once I have more information regarding this, I will pass it on to you all. Meanwhile, onward and upward - we will keep fighting for the justice we deserve. Sheila www.tpa-uk.org.uk
Guest guest
Dear Sheila, this happened sometime ago with Hurst at IDDT , a reporter took up the case of ADRS & Hypoglaecemia with G/M Insulin . An article was promised on certain date , but under cover pressure by Novo Nordisk stopped publication for 6 weeks . The Chief Editor was away, he finally insisted it be published . So keep pushing them , ask off the record who has the vested interest, for future refererence . Regards Barrie . Guest guest
Judy, could you tell your neighbour that the cat opened the plastic and you came in to find him leafing through the pages of the magazine? You know, like the Cravendale advert where cats have thumbs Sheila, I'm very disappointed for you, but I know you will persevere to get this published. I'll read my copy of yesterday's Mail on Sunday at some point too Best wishes x
Guest guest
I put this to a friend of mine who is a freelance journalist who used to work for a major newspaper group. Her response verbatim is: Re the newspaper, I suspect the editors of the section were looking at the mix of content overall and felt for whatever reason it didn't fit in for that edition - if you say there's been other pieces recently on that subject they might have felt it had been overdone. It might appear in another edition soon. The journo might be a bit embarrassed if they'd previously been told it would appear, or may have been told to redo or rewrite some parts of it before it's good enough - could be a few reasons. Suspect it's nothing personal against the story. Will be interested to hear what happens when you contact the Mail. D
