My experience was after 100 mcg daily to start with. It made me better very

quickly initially, I did not realise I had started going downstairs one step at

a time and after the levo I just got up and went straight downstairs one step

after another.

I started sleeping again after months of virtualy no sleep. I do remember

waking on a morning feeling as though I had a heavy weight on my chest though.

My sweating stopped and also heart palpitations wenmt away. I lost a stone in

weight in no time. I did get cystitis and a friend of mine also got that when

she started levo?

Unfortunately for me the improvements were short lived however many people get

good results on it and slowly increase the dose as weeks go by under advice from

their GP.

Hope you get great results.

I am four weeks in and am starting to see some improvements, I am also on 50mcg

- which I know is not enough, but I am trying to be patient.

I am sleeping better and am less tired than I was and my brain fog is improving.

I tried Armour before T4 and my T3 conversion is really good so Armour has too

much T3 in it for me and I felt too wired.

I will say that having some T3 is helpful so I am going to add some Armour to my

T4 at some point.

It really depends on the individual. Some people do well on T4 only and others

just need T3.

Hi Guy, Levothyroxine (T4) has a long half life of 5-9 days depening on who you read- this means that a dose will only opitmise after at least 25 days, so you probably won't feel much different for the first few weeks. I assume doc is intending to increase the dose after 2 weeks? T4 is the most common thyroid replacement therapy and works for just over 80% of people so is a good place to start. > thyroid treatment > From: higuyc@...> Date: Wed, 2 Feb 2011 06:09:16 +0000> Subject: Starting out on Levothyroxine...what should one expect?> > > > 50mcg for two weeks to start with. Hi Guy,

An elderly friend of mine started using levothyroxine in her mid 80's and it

completely transformed her life. Prior to its use, she was lethargic and said

she wasn't being lazy but she didn't feel like doing anything. Before her

thyroid woes, she was a very active woman. She is almost 90 now, takes

levothyroxine daily and tends a large garden plus she is very active.

Unfortunately, levothyroxine hasn't worked very well for me, but I know that for

many people it works well. I am wishing you the best and I hope that the

levothyroxine works well and that you are feeling great really soon!

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated.

I'm really in the dark about all this, having only just been diagnosed. I've

been feeling bad for so long that I'm somewhat apprehensive as to whether this

is going to make any difference - I just daren't get my hopes up, so it's really

good to get some imprtial information about it.

The dose will go up after 2 weeks up it's really just a case of wait and see.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again,

Guy
