Guest guest
If your B12 is low (and it should be right at the top of the reference range) you need to boost this level by taking at least 1000mcgs of sublingual B12….and no, the B vitamins that are in Nutri Adrenal Extra are not sufficient if you are deficient in B12 - if that makes sense. Luv - Sheila Hi Jot I dont get tested again cos Gp says I'm in range. Am self medicating, are the B vits that are in NAX not enough to go along with the B12? B1 B2 B3 B6 20mg B5 60mg all x4 Appreciate your help Cheers Lyn ---
Guest guest
Wires getting a bit crossed here. When we talk about the need for those suffering with a vitamin B12 deficiency, they are the people who need to supplement with 1000mcgs sublingual B12 nuggets on a daily basis. What you are talking about is the keeping a 'good' vitamin B12 level topped up so you don't acquire problems with low levels in the future. There is a difference. Guest guest
Hi Lyn, It doesnt appear that your B12 levels are too bad....we dont run out ob B12 very quickly...therefore I would stick with the instruction on whichever product you are taking.......honestly I dont think B12 is you big problem. However you should be taking HCL suppleemtn, to help the process of digestion when you eat meat particularly. In the presence of adequate HCL the parietal cells of the stomach will produce Intrinsic Factor. This lovely little protein is absolutely necessary for your body to absorb B12...without it we dont absorb B12 even supplements. So HCL (Betaine) is the supplement you need to get from Biovea. sally xx Anyhow I am more confused than ever now on how often to take the B12My natures aid 100ug says one a dayMy jarrow methyl 1000mcg says every 2-3 days My blood test was 301 range 191-
Guest guest
Can I offer this site link http://www.medicinenet.com/pernicious_anemia/page3.htm It gives a great deal of information about Vitamin B12 deficiency. It also reiterates what I have been saying...and others too....that we dont use much B12 on a daily basis. It is so precious to our body we store it. Because it is only available in animal proteins and we are not naturally meat eaters then we store B12 and our stores will last without being replenished for up to 5-7 years. So if your B12 is 'within the reference range', I would suggest you dont need to worry. Further we hypot's have this problem due to our poor gastric juice manufacture. Supplement with HCL (Betaine) and this will help release the B12 from the animal protein It will also stimulate our patietal cells in the gastric mucosa to manufacture and release Intrinsic Factor. Intrinsic Factor is essential for the B12 to attach to This then slips along toward the small intestines where the B12 is absorbed. Without HCL this whole process is interrupted However, it will take 5-7 years before it impacts on ur body as that is how long it takes to use up our stores....and that is IF we absorbed ABSOLUTELY NO B12 during that time. Hope this helps, Sally xx From: <chrisjtaylor46@...>thyroid treatment Sent: Wednesday, 6 July 2011, 9:37Subject: Re: How much B12? Guest guest
Hi Lynn, can you find your message here thyroid treatment/message/84713 - so long as you stick with the same subject heading you should be able to find it easily by going to the little search engine on our Messages Page and typing the heading, or your email address in there. I go along with JOT on this one. You need to take 1000mcgs daily if your B12 is low, as it is very important that your level gets to the top of the reference range - it should not be at the bottom, or the middle or even three quarters of the way up in the range, it needs to be there, right at the top. See also http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18655403 and also attached document. I buy the Solgar brand 1000mcgs sublingual caplets as it is rapidly absorbed direct into the blood.
