Guest guest
Oh my , what a terrible experience!!! Yet another one to add to the mountain we've all endured. One thing I will suggest though, as it's very easy to forget what's been said, is to secrete a digital voice recorder on your person or in your bag. I don't know if this practice is legal, but I did it twice and it certainly, not only reminded me EXACTLY what was said, but also reminds me of hearing him back down on a couple of occasions too, saying things like: We Drs sometimes get things wrong. " Jx That's when she laid into Dr S. I cannot remember the whole conversation exactly, but she was also contradicting herself a lot, but her best statement was: " I want you to go T4 only treatment and I want you be euthyroid by your TSH. I have yet to come across a patient who has not got better on T4. " Well, hello, I am sitting right in front of you!!!
Guest guest
Hi Jackie, Thanks for your comment. Yeh, that's a good idea, actually. The problem was, I really didn't expect her to go off on like that! > Oh my , what a terrible experience!!! Guest guest
I have just been to see my GP and have been told some of the most cringeworthy things of all time, including that she has " yet to come across a patient who hasn't improved on T4 " . I really regretted not having a copy of the Mail on Sunday article.... Perhaps she needs to join this forum - send her a link thyroid treatment and she can meet our other 2316 members and chat with them, and see how many of us remained terribly ill on synthetic levothyroxine. To be quite honest , I would not want to stay with such a doctor who obviously knows nothing about your condition and all she does is parrot Dr B, who I have never heard anybody on this forum give a good word for because of his total lack of knowledge regarding those with peripheral thyroid hormone deficiencies at the cellular level. What is the point of staying with such a doctor, she will only cause you more ill health. Is it possible to contact your local PCT and tell them you have lost all faith in your GP and that you wish to find another doctor? Guest guest
Hi I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr B at the QE too - she made out that she didn't know who Dr S was (as did Dr F) she used my seeing Dr S as a reason to discharge me even thought she was going to discharge me anyway because she couldn't find anything wrong with my blood tests - even though any fool could see I was really ill at the time! She seemed to think I just needed antidepressants! the woman is an idiot - I wonder if that is in the job description to be an endo at the QE?? Your definitely not alone!! Keep battling on! Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I am sorry that you had the same experience with Dr B. How come you saw Dr B after Dr S, though? Were you not happy with him? Dr B was my second NHS endo. I thought I'd give the NHS another chance after the first endo reduced me to tears and wrote into the letter to my GP that I am looking for a magic weight loss pill... > > > > Hi all, > > > > I have just been to see my GP and have been told some of the most cringeworthy things of all time, including that she has " yet to come across a patient who hasn't improved on T4 " . Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thanks for your message. I am not sure if changing GPs will solve the matter. All of them are just so stubborn and only care about NHS guidelines, but not about patients. This is actually my second GP in that surgery. They were more sympathetic to start with, letting me try T3 and that, but then when I went to see Dr S, the first doctor to whom I " confessed " I was taking generic NDT from Thailand, it went downhill with my GPs because Dr S mentioned this in the letter to them. I had asked him not to mention this fact to my GPs but he said he would put it nicely, but the letter was really rather blunt and all it did was make both the GPs in that surgery go into panic mode... When Dr. S's second letter arrived 5 months later, in which he for some reason he didn't mention that I'd stopped taking NDT for 5 months and synthetics weren't working, either, that was the straw that broke the camel's back with them and they decided to parrot Dr B instead. So it all kind of backfired and eventually I will probably be left self-medicating again... What I find most appalling, though, is that GPs have NO CLUE whatsoever about thyroid treatment and also have no interest in brushing up their knowledge! Maybe when you work as GP for some time and all you is see patients with common colds, you lose your academic spirit? Surely there aren't that many patients fighting back in that surgery, so if there is one who's fighting their position, then personally I'd go straight on the internet and look at the latest studies in the field to form my own opinion! She doesn't have to care about me personally, I am not asking that. But in her shoes, I would just want to know what the latest research says! > > I have just been to see my GP and have been told some of the most > cringeworthy things of all time, including that she has " yet to come across > a patient who hasn't improved on T4 " . Guest guest
Well ofcourse Dr S was an eminent scientist there...her was held in esteem by these people. He did what Drs shouldnt do....he cared.....he cured. He was held so high in esteem they referred their difficult paitnets to him because they couldnt come up with a diagnosis. He just gave people pigs thyroid and they were good to go!!!!!!! that is unforgiveable and now he is paying the price. Just as Dr P did and as Dr M is going through the same thing and so too Dr H all because of the same things. I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr B at the QE too - she made out that she didn't know who Dr S was (as did Dr F) she used my seeing Dr S as a reason to discharge me even thought she was going to discharge me anyway because she couldn't find anything wrong with my blood tests - even though any fool could see I was really ill at the time! Guest guest
Hi , I went to see Dr S because after my first appointment with Dr B I was so frustrated I had to do something. I was very ill and in danger of losing my job and my sanity and as soon as I told her my blood results a wall went up and that was it - she basically told me there and then that it was not my thyroid and couldn't understand why I was so insistent that it was! I was in tears by the end of that appointment as you can imagine! When I went back ten weeks later she didn't even bother to see me and I saw an assistant of some kind who was about 10!The assistant had to go and speak to Dr B because I was asking questions that she couldn't answer and I said I was being treated by Dr S and feeling better and the message was 'well who is he?' I was surprised she didn't know! I can't believe the endo actually put in writing your were looking for a magic weight loss pill - what a cheek! My GP told me I was the three F's - fat, fair and forty and what did I expect! Dr S has been brilliant and I wouldn't be this well without him. Good luck Dawn x How come you saw Dr B after Dr S, though? Were you not happy with him? > >
