Guest guest
Thanks Alison, that is quite useful but what I was wanted to find out is how one adds T3 to T4, not just T3 alone.regardsLilian
Guest guest
Thanks for the link Carole.Perhaps there isn't one yet written to cover how to add in T3 to thyroxine. What I really want to know is if someone is taking 150mcg of thyroxine a day, but still not feeling too good and wishes to try to add T3 to the thyroxine - not go full blown T3 alone, how would they go about this. Would they have to decrease thyroxine and by how much, what would the starting dose of T3 be and for how long should it be on that before increasing.Lilian http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/natural_treatment_for_hypothyroidism1.php Carole
Guest guest
Thanks , that is exactly what I am looking for.Lilian I know what the protocol is but not where it is... For evey 20 mcg of T3 you take off between 80 and a 100 mcg of T4.
Guest guest
Dr P told me to just drop 1grain NDT and add 20mcgs of T3. I think just suck it and see, you soon know if its right or wrong and it wont harm you....just cut back for a day if its too much and drop more NDT. As we all keep saying we are all different and what works for one is different for another so experiment. Sally xx LilianI know what the protocol is but not where it is... For evey 20 mcg of T3 you take off between 80 and a 100 mcg of T4.so if you were on say 150 of T4 you would take this down to 50 and add in 20 or 25 of T3.No idea where I found this, but it's what I did in 2003 when I first went on to T3. x>> I have looked and looked through the files and I just cannot find the protocol for adding T3 to thyroxine.>
Guest guest
Dont be afraid of thyroid supplement it isnt going to kill you....If your not feeling right on your current dose I personally would just add a touch of T3 in addition to what your taking now and see what happens. If its too much cut back on Levo and if its not enough then some weeks later add a little more and see what happens again. If you get signs of hyper then cut back on Levo again. If thats not right for you then cut back on T3...just feel your way. Usually increase in 4-6weeks. again if its too quick cut back and leave it another 2-4 weeks before you increase again. There are no longer term harmfull effects unless you keep a hyper state going for some years. sally xx Thanks for the link Carole. Guest guest
Thanks Sally. The information is actually for my sister. She is another one in complete denial that she is not right on thyroxine alone. Even whilst nodding off in the middle of the day she was saying she was OK. She blamed it on her age (5 years younger than me), on the fact that everyone naps in the afternoon, and that she was not tired it was just her eyes that felt heavy. I am on T3 but it was a long gradual process with me, but my sister is Madam Instant. She has no patience and if the cure isn't instant she wont bother. I am giving her the opportunity of having some T3 but wanted her to do it properly as she will give up at the first hurdle. If she gets overdosed she will say this is not for her.
