Hello, newbie here :) So happy to have found this group.

Am hypothyroid and currently taking 125g mcg of levothyroxine daily. It's

definitely helped with some of the major symptoms (massive edema, skin on fire,

itching etc), but i am left, three years after diagnosis, with various symptoms

such as swelling in legs, weight gain, heavy periods that leave me exhausted,

depression, general exhaustion and fatigue. I just don't feel 'like myself'. I

don't know how else to describe it. I am functioning, I usually manage to go to

work every day, but that's about it. I have stopped having a social life, don't

have the energy to do anything, feel like I can't do the things I enjoyed before

because I have no physical or mental energy. I'm a writer, and even that seems

to be beyond me at the moment - I have no ability to focus on what I'm doing,

concentration is shot.

I am now considering buying Armour thyroid to treat my hypo, as I think maybe I

need the T3. I know my doctor won't prescribe this as he thinks all natural

medicines are ridiculous.

I am also going to do the adrenal/cortisol test to see if this would help.

However, I am worried that if it shows I need medication to improve these

levels, my doctor won't agree to prescribe anything. I'd be really interested to

know how other people have got on with this and what you advise.

Would love to hear about anyone's experiences with self-medication and if their

hypothryoidism is being successfully managed. Will I ever feel 'normal' again?

Right now I feel that my life is small and miserable - I want my life back!

Thanks for reading!

Georgie :)
