Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a doctor who will prescribe cortisol on the basis of the Genova adrenal stress profile. I had this done last year and my cortisol levels are way below normal all day until nighttime when they soar. Since then, through my own reserach, I now realise I have had hypothyroidism for at least a decade and have recently been diagnosed with a multi-nodular goitre but all of my thyroid bloods are in the normal range. I have nearly all symptoms of hypo, but no doctor or the endocrinologist believe that their is anything wrong with me. I have been treating myself in accordance with Dr. 's book and this has helped somewhat with getting a nights sleep and palpitations. Anyway, I recently started taking the nutri adrenal extra support under guidance from a medical nutritionist, in preparation for taking dessicated thyroid, but had a major poly-arthritis/fybromyalgia attack. My jaw was so bad I couldn't really eat for four days. Having stopped the adrenal support the symptoms have abated hugely. I now reckon that I may need to take hydro cortisol but I can't even find a doctor who believes the Genova diagnostics test, other that the consultant urologist who ordered it for me one year ago, who said he had no treatment for adrenal fatigue. I live in Ireland but will travel anywhere to get help at this stage. I can't even start taking anything for the thyroid until I get the adrenals sorted out and I'm really at the end of my tether with it all after years and thousands of euros spent trying to get well. If anyone can shed any light I would be so greatful, Many thanks, Elaine
Guest guest
Dear Elaine, I have already sent to you my list of doctors recommended by some of our members, who will prescribe synthetic T3, either alone, in combination with synthetic levothyroxine or natural thyroid extract. They obviously know a little more about the functioning of the thyroid than the majority of endocrinologists/GP's. However, whether they will treat low adrenal reserve you would need to telephone them and ask. I would ask your GP to refer you to the hospital for a short synacthen test to see whether you could be suffering with 's Disease. Trouble with doctors is that they don't use their brains and realise that Both 's Disease and Cushing's Syndrome (the two extremes of adrenal fatigue) can be stopped, if only they would recognise the steps leading up to these serious illnesses. You CAN buy Hydrocortisone from various reputable Internet Pharmacies from around the world without a prescription. Please read all the information that is in our FILES section of our forum web site thyroid treatment under the FOLDER entitled 'Adrenals' and if you have any questions you need to ask, please just shout. In the FILES section, scroll down to the FOLDER entitled 'Internet Pharmacies'/ I would highly recommend Dr Peatfield's book 'Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy'. Ask your GP to check y our blood levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. If any of these are low in the reference range, no amount of thyroid hormone can be properly utilised at the cellular level, so any that are low, would also need to be treated too. Is there any possibility you could be suffering with mercury poisoning caused through amalgam fillings - this too would stop your thyroid hormone from working.
