Thankyou Sheila. I think my doctors think I am a hypochondriac, as I have had vague problems coming and going for some years now. But I do feel that at 38 I should have a bit more oomph, and the coldness makes all my aching arms and legs worse too, of course. I wonder if you could possibly send me the list of doctors that you have - are these NHS doctors or private, or a mix? - so that I can see if I can get referred to someone relatively local if that is possible, but who knows what they are talking about. As I spent the whole of last year having hot flushes at night (not every night, but regularly), there is definitely something strange going on with my hormones. I am not, apparently, menopausal. But I am totally fed up.Also,

do get your thyroid function test results from your doctor, together with the

reference range for each of the tests done and post them here on the forum. No

doctor can withhold such information from you under the Freedom of Information

Act. Luv - Sheila

Both my sister and I are hypo, we have gone back over our lives and sussed that

we have been having symptoms since we were children.

Episodes where my sister would not eat for up to 3 weeks because she simply was

not hungry and she would take of all her clothes because she was too hot (hyper)

then she would eat like a horse, put on weight and be groggy and tired all the

time (hypo).

I myself missed a couple of day trips because no-one in the family could wake me

up to go!! I remember being tired all the time and going from painfully thin to

fat almost overnight.

We both agreed that the worst changes came with our first pregnancies, we both

went down to under 7 stone and had mental health problems which was put down

(especially in my case) to post natal depression but which could just as easily

be attributed to hyperthyroid. After that both of us have swelled and shrunk as

we have had episodes of hyper and hypo.

If only we had known then what we know now!!!
