First of all, no doctor can withhold the

information that is in your medical records so you can demand the reference

range for each of the tests done. This is available under the Freedom of

Information Act. What good are blood results to a doctor if there is no

reference range? How would he know whether you are at bottom, the middle or the

top of the reference range, or even outside of the bottom or outside of the top

of the reference range? Don't allow doctors or nurses or anybody else to tell

you that a reference range is not available.

Ferritin levels for women need to be between

70 and 90 (for men around between 150 and 170) - though Broda and Mark

Starr believes this figure should be much higher. Your ferritin is FAR too low,

and perhaps you should talk to your GP about iron injections as it is VERY

important you build this level up as quickly as possible.

Vitamin B12 needs to be right at the top of

the range (the range is approx. 125 to 800).

D3 levels need to be about 50. Can you

remember what your level was?

Magnesium levels need to be at the top of the

range, it's one thing that gets missed a great deal. Both potassium and mag

need to be at the top.

If your doctor refuses (or is unable) to give

you the reference ranges, then telephone your local hospital laboratory who

MUST give these to you. Failure to do so should result in your reporting

them to your local PCT.

serum copper 14 pmol/L

serum magnesium 0.9 mmol/L

serum zinc 14.4 umol/L

serum ferretin 21 ug/L (this I know is rubbish but Im at a loss as to how to

raise it as I can never get it above low 20s despite trying Floradix, double

dose Gentle iron etc and always taking my iron with 4g Vit c).

Im afraid that I wasnt given the lab reference ranges and am not able to get them,

so I hope that this does not hamper on people being able to advise.
