Guest guest
Lower your dosage rather than stop taking meds. Your endo can't dictate whether he will see you or not based on the meds you are taking. If he insists then find another endo or just see your GP. Stopping medication could mean the return of symptoms - do you really want to go through THAT again? Glynis He has told me to come off the medication for a while (he thinks levo) and see what happens. I do have an appoitment with Dr P on saturday and hope he can help. I feel scared now and don't know what to do because when i go back to see my endo my results will probably be under again. I haven't got the results he is going to send them in the post to me. > have i taken too much or is this what happens? > > Help > > Ali >
Guest guest
It is the active thyroid hormone T3 that would have given you these symptoms Ali. The T3 has a very short half life of just a couple of days in humans, and it peaks in the blood between 2 to 4 hours after taking it, and this is the time you will get hyopERt. symptoms. When this happens, because you have taken too much, don't take any more that day, and the following day, go back on to the dose you were taking before the last increase. You should not increase your Erfa Thyroid dose any quicker than every weeks or so. You will get the symptoms you are as well if you are suffering with low adrenal reserve, have systemic candidiasis, have mercury poisoning caused through amalgam fillings, have low levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc, so all of these need to be checked out and supplemented where necessary. Whenever you go to get thyroid function blood tests done, you should not take any thyroid medication on the morning of the blood draw. Take it instead after you have had it done. Taking any on the same morning would give a flawed result and because of the peak in the blood between 2 to 4 hours after taking it, your T3 would look very high, absolutely terrify the poor doctor who would immediately want you either to reduce, or stop taking it all together - and all because they are too lazy to do a bit of research to find out exactly how natural thyroid extract works. Incidentally, blood tests are absolutely useless when you are taking natural thyroid extract. You should titrate your dose according to how you feel, which is the easiest thing in the world to do. You have given yourself a bit of a fright, but let that be a lesson. However, because of this, I would NOT allow your doctor to put you back on the mainly inactive levothyroxine again. I would never go back on to that if it was the last drug on this earth, it did me so much damage and had I stayed on it (I stopped 8 years ago), I am certain I would be completely wheelchair bound. Another thing is I would not lie. With thyroid hormone replacement you are going to be found out one day, because it does affect the levels of hormone greatly in your blood. Just tell the doctor what you are doing and why, and how much better you feel and that you have no intention of using T4 again, and ask that he monitors you. My endocrinologist refused to give me natural thyroid extract because he gave me all the wrong reasons. I did my research, took him the papers, asked him to read the true facts. He did, and recommended NDT for me which my GP prescribes and he has done for all these years. Luv - Sheila i had an appointment today with my endo and i was told i had gone overactive, i have lied and been self medicating because he said i could not be seen at the hospital if i took anything other than levo. I have been on erfa since beginning of may and felt i needed to up my doses every 1-3 weeks and was taking 3 grains a day because i still felt weak after a week and half or so. I didn't realise i was over, i went into his clinic sweating and with anxiety but just did't realise. He has told me to come off the medication for a while (he thinks levo) and see what happens. Guest guest
slowly increase 4-6 weeks. You have over done it. so just pull back by one grain and then slowly increase again. Also dont take your supplement before your blood test...but wait until after your blood has been let and then take that days supplement according to how you take it. the other thing perhaps is to make sure you take less on the day you see your endo...he may be winding you up a little and that can also cause you to sweat etc....however its likely you are a little hypo but this will settle in a day or so.
