Guest guest
A friend had a TSH of 1.04 & FT4 of 13.7 last July. Although they are both within the normal range she has symptoms of tiredness, inability to lose weight etc. I know these symptoms could be an indication of other things but in a normal person who is not hypo-thyroid is the FT4 on the low side or is it just people who are on thyroxine treatment who should be seeking to be in the higher end of normal? Thanks! Dorothy
Guest guest
For those not on thyroid hormone replacement TSH should be around 1.0 and free T4 should be just above the middle of the reference range, so if the reference range for fT4 is 9.0 to 22.0 - it would be expected to be around 16/17 - so 13.7 would (or should) be considered as too low.
