Hi Dan,

If you get the flu, any version, make sure your adrenals remain

supported. If you develop watery diarrhoea, make sure you take enough

potassium salt to replace any lost potassium (and maybe some magnesium

as well).

Though the magnesium is used to get potassium back into the cells, it

would take a prolonged period of hypokalemia to require urgent admission

to hospital for emergency electrolyte(s) replacement.

That may be precipitated by the likes of Swine Flu (H1N1), where the HPA

axis is disturbed. Forgetting to take daily medication whilst you brain

is seriously affected could prove disastrous, especially if you don't

have someone 'looking out' for you.

My DW and I have just had one version of flu, can't be sure which, and

my DW became confused about what tablets she had taken and when.

As a stop-gap, get a tablet dispenser pack that will allow you to

physically see what is needed and when ~ you may only need to use it for

a week or two.

best wishes

Bob

Your concern is justified ~ keep a note of your medication that others

can see at a glance, if needed (a 'medicalert' disc would be useful).

a preventative but it's supposed to help with flu. google it.

Dan, you should be taking high doses of vitamin C (3/4000mgs daily,

if your bowels will tolerate it, even higher). You should be taking high doses

of vitamin D along with other recommended minerals and vitamins. Read the

following, this may help give you ideas http://www.suite101.com/content/natural-flu-remedies-a179595

- but the best way to avoid 'flu is to avoid crowded places, open doors with a

paper towel if these are used by a lot of people and wipe surfaces used by

others, wash your hands regularly etc. Generally make sure you are getting the

right diet to help boost your metabolism and do what you can to boost your

adrenals, i.e. take Nutri Adrenal Extra with Siberian Ginseng.

Beta-glucan is a rising star supplement in the prevention of flu - if you Google it, you'll be very impressed with what you find. Swine flu did not end up being the broad-spectrum killer that it was expected to be last year. National governments lost vast sums of money invested in vaccines against H1N1. My husband's company did extremely well last year because of its Lysol products that people were buying up to eliminate germs. But it never became a pandemic. But if you get H1N1 and HAPPEN to be one of the people negatively impacted by it, it can be a bear. Friends of ours have a 12-year-old son who is now wearing prostheses on both legs due to a double-amputation. He first came down with H1N1, and then while in the hospital being treated for it, he acquired hospital-based infections and pneumonia. The legs couldn't be saved from the infections. So, it definitely was not a pandemic, but after our friends' son's experience, we're definitely still taking immune-boosting supplements to avoid getting sick enough to require hospitalization. Besides Beta-glucan, I also have Sambucol at the ready, and oil of oregano, and we take vitamin D3 daily, and there's a honey syrup product (I forget what it is) that also helps. (Honey being a natural antibiotic.) Everyone have a healthy and happy New Year this year! Cherwyn

Hello Cherwyn, Beta Glucan sounds to be an excellent product.

Can I ask what the best dosage of this is please as I see it appears to range

from 3mg. to 100mg.
