Guest guest
If you get a chance to read this website, it will give you extra added info on why vitamin B12 is so important to our diets. More than anything, I spend a great deal of time discussing these matters with vegetarians. I am an animal lover as well, but when it comes to health, I add a bit of meat and an egg here and there. Great info here: http://shanonhilton.blogspot.com/2011/05/b12-deficiency-epidemic.html (save this to your health folder for future reference) Cheers, JOT
Guest guest
Hi JOT, Thanks for posting this as I am keen to read up on B vitamins. Very interesting what she says about deficiency in the soil caused by soil erosion & agriculture. My (holistic) vet said the same thing as I feed my dogs a mainly raw meat & veg diet. He recommends adding a multi vit & min supplement as we can't guarantee vegetables have the nutrients they used to? I'm a bit confused when she writes in her blog " Our body cannot manufacture vitamin B12; therefore, we must rely on animal products for its source. " But there are plenty of B12 supplements available that are suitable for vegetarians/vegans? (Solgar & Biocare spring to mind?) It may not be natural but we don't have to eat liver etc. I'm sure it must work out cheaper buying b12 supplements than buying the organic liver that she is recommending? x > > If you get a chance to read this website, it will give you extra added info on why vitamin B12 is so important to our diets. Guest guest
Hi : Our soil no longer carries the nutrients it used to so we can't be assured that these nutrients are in our food. Dr Jarvis wrote about this over 25 years ago in his book : Folk Medicine. He is also one of the first Drs to research our desperate need for iodine. Do you give your dogs iodine supplements as well, ? Most of us on the iodine protocol do this as well, my dogs are much healthier. Vitamin B12 is not produced in the body, it is something we must rely on by supplement or by food product. Just like iodine, and salt...our bodies do not produce these on their own, we must rely on outside sources. The thing about Vitamin B-12 is that it absorbs easier in the methyl form than the Cyanocobalamin form, yet most people by the Cyanocobalamin because it is more readily used by producers. Cyanocobalamin has to convert to the methyl form in the body to be used properly. Methyl is more in it's natural state and doesn't need to go through the conversion process. This is a product in the methyl form: http://www.iherb.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Methyl-B-12-1000-mcg-100-Lozenges/129?at=0 Check your bottle to see what it says....maybe you've got the methyl !! It's like Vitamin A... you want it in Beta Carotene form, which is the natural form and doesn't need to go through a conversion process in the system. Cheers, JOT > I'm a bit confused when she writes in her blog " Our body cannot manufacture vitamin B12; therefore, we must rely on animal products for its source. I need to read up on this Iodine protocol. Is there a seperate forum for that or a useful website? I am just making a list of things I need to order and it is so confusing as there are so many different products on the market! I don't want to get ripped off buying overpriced supplements but on the other hand I don't want to buy something cheap but ineffective that is full of fillers & nowt else? I am already taking Nutri's Adrenomax, Biocare multivitamin & mineral, 9 grammes of vitamin C, Chromium Picolinate 500ug (Solgar) (to fight sugar cravings!) and some pink himalayan sea salt. I've already ordered Source Naturals, Advanced Ferrochel, 180 Tablets http://www.iherb.com/Source-Naturals-Advanced-Ferrochel-180-Tablets/1021?at=0 as I am very low in iron. And I am going to order the B12 you suggested along with: Now Foods, Selenium, Yeast Free, 200 mcg, 180 Vcaps http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Selenium-Yeast-Free-200-mcg-180-Vcaps/818?at=0 Life Extension, DHEA, 25 mg, 100 Dissolve in Mouth Tablets http://www.iherb.com/Life-Extension-DHEA-25-mg-100-Dissolve-in-Mouth-Tablets/404\ 8?at=0 (My adrenal test showed I am v.low in this). Country Life, Gluten Free, CoQ10, 100 mg, 60 Veggie Softgels http://www.iherb.com/Country-Life-CoQ10-100-mg-60-Veggie-Softgels/11668?at=1 North American Herb & Spice Co., OregaMax, 90 Veggie Caps http://www.iherb.com/North-American-Herb-Spice-Co-OregaMax-90-Veggie-Caps/7694?a\ t=0 (to fight candida) Do you think these are ok formulations please?? And is there anything else I am missing out supplement wise? My choice is limited as I need veggie, gluten free & dairy free products. Thanks again for your help & sorry to hijack your thread! x

Do you think that is enough? > I need to read up on this Iodine protocol. Is there a seperate forum for that or a useful website? Iodine group: iodine/ Iodine protocol: These are required to support the body while supplementing with iodine: a. Vit C – 2,000 – 5,000 mgs / day – supports the symporters and assists as an antioxidant to detoxing. b. Selenium – 200 – 400 mcg / day – needed for detoxification and thyroid hormone creation. c. Unrefined salt (Celtic) – ½ tsp / day – supports adrenals, binds to bromide and assists in removal, supports symporters (sodium iodine symporters or NIS) d. Magnesium – 400 mgs / day – critical for over 300 enzyme reactions in the body. e. Optional – ATP CoFactors -1 tablet 2x / day – when individuals continue to feel fatigued or have autoimmune thyroid disease this product can assist in increasing ATP (energy) within the cells. Riboflavin and no-flush niacin. I give my dogs 6.25 mgs of Iodoral ( 1/2 tablet) a day. We no longer recommend kelp because it may be full of heavy metals. > I am already taking Nutri's Adrenomax, Biocare multivitamin & mineral, 9 grammes of vitamin C, Chromium Picolinate 500ug (Solgar) (to fight sugar cravings!) and some pink himalayan sea salt. YOU NEED TO ADD MAGNESIUM TO THIS LIST...AT LEAST 400 MGS A DAY. > I've already ordered Source Naturals, Advanced Ferrochel, 180 Tablets > http://www.iherb.com/Source-Naturals-Advanced-Ferrochel-180-Tablets/1021?at=0 as I am very low in iron. THIS MAY BE TOO MUCH DHEA IN ONCE DOSE.....SOME PEOPLE HAVE TROUBLE WITH 25 MGS. I ONLY TAKE 5 MGS AT A TIME, ANY MORE GIVES ME HORRID HEADACHES. YOU'LL HAVE TO DECIDE ON THAT. IF YOU BUY A LOWER MG LIKE 5 OR 10 MGS YOU CAN CONTROL IT EASIER. > Country Life, Gluten Free, CoQ10, 100 mg, 60 Veggie Softgels > http://www.iherb.com/Country-Life-CoQ10-100-mg-60-Veggie-Softgels/11668?at=1 EXCELLENT > > North American Herb & Spice Co., OregaMax, 90 Veggie Caps > http://www.iherb.com/North-American-Herb-Spice-Co-OregaMax-90-Veggie-Caps/7694?a\ t=0 (to fight candida) YOU DO NEED THE OREGANOL (SUPER STRENGTH IN GEL CAPS for the Candida) I ASSUME YOU ARE NOT LISTING THOSE BECAUSE THE GEL CAPS ARE MADE OF BEEF STOCK. I UNDERSTAND YOUR SPIRITUAL, MYSTICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND PHYSICAL NEED FOR BEING A VEGETARIAN, BUT THERE ARE SOME THINGS WHICH YOU'LL HAVE TO CHANGE IF YOU WANT TO HEAL. WE ALL GO THROUGH THIS AND WE ARE HEALTHIER BECAUSE WE DID.... http://www.iherb.com/North-American-Herb-Spice-Co-Oreganol-P73-Super-Strength-60\ -Softgels/7712?at=0 Everything else looks really good. When you take a B vitamin like B12, you must also take a B-complex vitamin along with it everyday. If you are not getting all your B vitamins in one of your supplements here, you must buy a complex. Here in the States, we really like this particular B complex. It gives great energy and really helped when I had adrenal fatigue. They can't keep it on the shelf at my local vitamin shop...people buy it up immediately. You may want to give it a try. (but it does not have the meythl B12) http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Fatigue-to-Fantastic-Daily-Energy-B-Compl\ ex-120-Ultracaps/7120?at=0 When you look at ingredients you should try to avoid soy or soy lecithin...this isn't any good for you but it's in a lot of stuff these days.....
