Guest guest
Hi Carole, don't know what the right answer is to this but I did mine back in Feb and at that time I was in bed most of the day so I didn't have any choice - I did as you said and set the alarm and dragged myself up to do the test. I can't see that keeping yourself awake when you're ill is going to help. All best, AlisonPS just a thought - wouldn't it be best to do it Sunday and then they collect it the following working day which'll be Mon?>> Hi> I have the 24 hr adrenal salivary test to do, which I want to do tomorrow. Guest guest
i was told to do it on a normal day, so as to see what is happening at those times. if it's normal for you to be asleep in the afternoon, then my thoughts are you'd want to see if there's a cortisol rleated reason for this? ie, does cortisol dip at these times? otherwise, if you alter the circumstances, you're not going to get a 'normal' result are you? your body might respond fine if you keep awake and have a few coffees, say, but is that going to be 'normal' for you? will that distort the result more than 'distorting' it by sleeping? i suppose ideally you'd do two, one sleeping and one not! but that is a bit expensive isn't it sorry i don't think this helps very much does it chris > > Hi > I have the 24 hr adrenal salivary test to do, which I want to do tomorrow. >
Guest guest
Hi Carole, I would do the salivary adrenal samples during the part of the day when you are not napping - or near to when you are napping. This is because this test is called the 24 hour adrenal STRESS index profile. It is to test the level of STRESS being caused to your adrenals - and if you do the samples when you have just woken, you are quite unlikely to be suffering stress of any kind. Perhaps you could do the samples just before you feel the need to nap. However, do make sure you write down the exact time you provided the samples so the laboratory know. If you could force yourself to keep awake, that really would be best, as you don't want to waste your money. Luv - Sheila Hi I have the 24 hr adrenal salivary test to do, which I want to do tomorrow. Im concerned napping might alter the hormone levels but I need to take daytime naps in bed two and sometimes three times a day at the moment, can I set an alarm for the times I need to do the tests and carry on napping, or should I use match sticks and force myself to stay awake the whole day?
