Different thyroxine brands

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of varying symptoms on different

levothyroxine brands.

I've been on 50mcg of levothyroxine since a nasty period of thyrotoxicosis last

year -- before that I was on 100mcg and 75mcg, but had to reduce the dose as I

was suffering some very unpleasant overdose symptoms.

I still get my prescription for 75mcg, but only take 50mcg a day, and then use

up the 25mcg tablets at the end so I don't have to get my repeat prescription so

often. It seems like every couple of months I go through a phase of overdose

symptoms again, feeling very restless, insomnia, night sweats, muscle cramps,

flushes, dizziness and nausea etc. I'm beginning to think these " odd " periods

coincide with the 25mcg tablets.

The 50mcg tablets are anhydrous levothyroxine sodium, made by Actavis -- I

generally have felt fine on these tablets. The 25mcg tablets are actually 27.8

mcg levothyroxine sodium, " equivalent to 25mcg anhydrous levothyroxine sodium " ,

made by Wockhardt. When I've finished my 50mcg tablets I take two 25mcg tablets

a day until they're finished -- during this time I seem to feel much worse.

Has anyone else any experience or ideas about this? I could be entirely

imagining it, I'm just not sure.

Cheers,
