I did write to you privately and recommended you stop the

Vitamion C Adam for the moment but carry on with your Nutri Adrenal Extra -

hopefully, the 'dire rear' should stop shortly and you will feel much better.

Are you taking Siberian Ginseng and liquorice tincture as these will help

support your adrenals?

Hi,

I have adrenal fatigue and started treatment 6 weeks ago. I am now taking 4

tablets of Nutri Adrenal Extra (NAX), Nutri Vitamin C TR and CoQ10 daily.

I have been feeling ill for the last 2 weeks with severe stomach cramps and

bloody diarrhoea. It is not food poisoning as I have already tested for this. I

think it may be from taking so much vitamin C.

Has anybody else experiences stomach problems from taking high doses of vitamin

C? If so, do you have any suggestion on recovering?

I have discontinued the use of vitamin C and am drinking plenty of water.

Thanks.

Adam

Caffeine withdrawal can be horrid - I didn't realise I had withdrawn - when I

stayed with friends for a weekend who only had decaffed - headache was really

debilitating. I only have one cup a day now so I think I could withdraw without

much bother.

I was always taught to raise the Vitamin C dose until " bowel tolerance " was

reached - in other words until you start running to the bathroom! But I don't

think there should be blood there - best to check it out. Garlic - as in three

cloves would send me running I know that. Even one clove can do for me if I am

feeling a touch delicate. Take it gently - moderation in all things - including

moderation itself

Good luck

I would suggest only start one supplement at a time, or only increase one

supplement at a time. Increase no quicker than every few days so that there is

time to monitor the effects of any changes you are making. That should make it

easier to track down whether any of your supplements, or any of the increases,

are having an adverse effect. (In the case of some things, such as thyroid

medication, you have to leave a much longer time between increases, but I am

talking about supplements like vitamin C here.)

It is difficult to ensure that you only change one factor at a time, but it

really helps to see what is going on and why.

Hi all,

I have been taking 4 tablets of Vitamin C, so that would make it 4000mg. There

is also vitamin C in the NAX so the daily dose is more like 4500mg daily. I

don't know for sure if my symptoms are caused by the vitamin C but I have done a

food poisoning test and it's not that.

I tried the Siberian Gingsen and Licorice tincture from Nutri a few weeks back

but that didn't agree with me. Actually that was when I started to have

diarrhoea but I quickly stopped using that. It's been a while since I used that

so I don't think that is what is causing my symptoms now.

I'm not really sure what to do now. I don't usually find allopathic doctors very

helpful which is why I havn't been going to them for help with this issue. But

it's got so bad that I think I might have to.

Side Effects and Safety of Ginseng

Pregnant or nursing women or children should avoid ginseng. People with hormone-dependent illnesses such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, or cancers of the breast, ovaries, uterus, or prostate should avoid Panax ginseng because it may have estrogenic effects.

Panax ginseng may decrease the rate and force of heartbeats, so it shouldn't be used by people with heart disease unless under the supervision of a healthcare providers.

Ginseng may lower blood sugar levels, so it shouldn't be taken by people with diabetes unless under a doctor's supervision. Ginseng may worsen insomnia.

Side effects of ginseng may include nervousness, agitation, insomnia, diarrhea, headaches, high blood pressure, and heart palpitations.

Herb-Dru

Drug Interactions

Ginseng can increase the effect of blood-thinners (antiplatelet or anti-clotting drugs), such as clopidogrel, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, and aspirin, which may result in uncontrolled bleeding or hemorrhage. Certain herbs, such as danshen, devil's claw, eleuthero, garlic, ginger, horse chestnut, papain, red clover, and saw palmetto, can also increase the risk of bleeding if combined with ginseng.

Ginseng may affect heart rhythm and can increase potential side effects from theophylline (and similar asthma drugs), albuterol, clonidine, sildenafil citrate (Viagra).

Panax ginseng may interact with insulin and other drugs for diabetes, such as metformin (Glucophage), glyburide (Glynase), glimepiride (Amaryl), and glipizide (Glucotrol XL).

Ginseng may interfere with the metabolism of monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as phenelzine sulfate (Nardil), tranylcypromine sulfate (Parnate) and isocabaxazid (Marplan). It's also believed to affect levels of neurotransmitters (chemicals that carry messages from nerve cells to other cells) and may interact with antipsychotic drugs such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine) and fluphenazine (Prolixin).

Ginseng stimulates the central nervous system, so it may increase the effects of prescription drugs that do the same (such as medications for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, narcolepsy, and obesity. The combination may raise heart rate and blood pressure.

Ginseng has been found to interfere with the metabolism of drugs processed by an enzyme called cyp3A4. Ask your doctor to check if you are taking medications of this type.

Maybe you are taking too many blood thinning supplements? I can't remember what

they all are, but here are some: vitamin C, fish oils, ginko biloba. I'm sure

there are quite a few more. So you have to be careful not to take them in

combination. If you take too many the blood can't clot so any little injuries

just keep on bleeding.

Diarrhea can leave your body drained and should be taken care of asap. Losing

all that water and all those nutrients can be drastic for the system. Both too

much Magnesium and too much Vitamin C can give the big *D*. Best to get it under

control quickly.

I use this product whenever I get a bout of the big *D*....I also use it for my

dogs whenever they have one. It works immediately and it is

homeopathic.......it's a life saver.

hi mandy

the link is talking about PANAX ginseng and that is a totally different herb to

siberian ginseng. siberian ginseng isn't even actually a member of the ginseng

family (although it is distantly related). siberian ginseng is a nourishing and

gentle adaptogen.

panax ginseng(asian, korean or american) can be very firey and would be too

stimulating for adrenal support.
