Guest guest
If a doctor is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) then s/he cannot withhold your test results from you. Write a short note to him requesting that your blood test results be sent to you (enclose a stamped addressed envelope) immediately showing the reference range for each of the tests done and say that you will discuss these results with him/her when you see him/her. Give a link to http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Managingyourorganisation/Informationpolicy/Patientconfidentialityandcaldicottguardians/DH_4084411 This applies to both NHS and private doctors. Be assertive. Keep it short and to the point . Luv - Sheila I have had some tests done by one of the doc's on the good doc list. When I asked for my test results prior to seeing him again. I was told the earliests I can have my results is the day before the appointment and then only in special circumstances. The patient information states " patients must make an appointment to discuss or obtain test results " It goes on to say " results will be emailed " . It doesn't mention a time frame. I have made an appointment to see him and asked for my results to be emailed. But no test results! I have now cancelled my appointment as I really do want to take sometime to look at the results and formulate questions to ask before seeing him. I am very angry at my results being withheld and don't know what to do. I've paid him and the lab, seems I dont have a leg to stand on. Comments please. xxx
