Guest guest
HI ALL Having been seen by a Psychiatrist today. I was ask if I felt my health condition was a mental problem, and my answer is that Thyroid problems are physical. I took a wadge of paperwork on one drug I was placed on in the past, but to have taken paperwork on all that I have been placed on, and all have caused weight gain, and some more serious problems. I have been told each time that the drug prescribed was safe. I have now been told that they have a newer drug and again reported as SAFE. This drug that they now want me to take is called ARIPIPRAZOLE, and again I was told that they would start me off on a low dose. I have been told that it would stop me worrying about my health or again this possibly means that it stops symptoms that one still has, and the drawback to this approach is that you could be ill and not know that you are. I was provided with just two sheets of information about this drug. However this reading in DRUGS .COM says that elderly patients are at an increaseed risk of death mainly from infectious pneumonia. This one would not be good news for me as I suffered from my chest in childhood, but also more recently and said to be pneumonia. What do you all know of this drug. I would have liked more time with this psychiatrist for more detail about drugs and damage caused to me in the past, but this does not happen. Guest guest
All drugs have side effects for some people and there could well be contraindications that should be looked into. However, for most people, there are no problems, but all of these have to be reported in the specific drug information sheets. You need to weigh the pros and cons Kathleen but you can't keep refusing to take drugs because of what might happen and you may be stopping regaining your normal health because you are becoming too afraid to try the experiment.
