Yep Georgie,

That looks pretty bad.... well at least you know now and can do something about

it. If you hadn't had it tested you might have remained blissfully unaware,

and shattered.

You should back off whatever thyroid meds you are forcing your poor adrenals to

cope with, for a week, and start taking all the things that are good for

adrenals: B vitamins mainly in the form of Nutri Adrenal Extra, Vitamin C, at

least 2 or 3 thousand mcg a day (I buy the fizzy ones from asda) and make sure

you go to bed early and sleep in a very dark room.

A normal level of cortisol is one which is within the suggested ranges.

I took HC with results that were no where near as low as yours and it's made a

huge difference to me. I've been on HC and NAX for about 18 months and have

slowly dropped the dose of HC back. The NAX will build your adrenals up but

it's a slow process.

If I were you I would post the reults on the adrenals forum and see what they

say......

NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS

It is a shock when you realise something is wrong, but no diagnosis is much

worse!

Thanks for that - I will follow that link. I just feel so overwhelmed with it

all at the moment, and kind of hopeless. I should probably show these results to

my doctor, but I doubt that he will give them any credence, and to be honest, it

feels like a waste of energy to try to persuade the medical establishment to

take this seriously. I don't know if I can handle this on my own, but on the

other hand I don't think I can face another round of doctors telling me it's all

in my head.

On days like today I just feel like giving up altogether. I know that is an

awful thing to say, but sometimes it feels like I will never feel well or have

any energy again, and no one around me really understands what I'm going

through, why it takes every ounce of energy I have just to hold down my job, why

I can't keep up with my friends and family, why I stay home all the time and so

on. I'm overweight, so people just assume I'm lazy and that I should go to the

gym... I used to be able to run 5 miles before breakfast! And now I can't even

run upstairs.

Well, I didn't mean this to turn into such a big moaning session! Time to shut

up! Thanks for reading and responding.

Hello Georgie

Ask your GP to refer you to your local hospital to get a short

synacthen test to see whether you could be suffering with either borderline

's Disease or 's. These results are indeed low.

Meanwhile, send for 120tablets of Nutri Adrenal Extra from Nutri

Ltd (the details are in our FILES section of this forum http://health.groups.com/group/thyroid treatment

, On the page that opens, scroll down and click on 'Discouonts on Tests and

Supplements' and then click on 'Nutri Ltd. Following the instructions on ordering

and be sure to add into your order the TPA reference code to ensure you are

given a 33% discount.

These should reach you by tomorrow.

You start by taking 1 tablet with your breakfast (always take

with food) and stay on that for 7 to 10 days. Add another tablet with your lunch

(never take any after 1.00p.m.) and stay on that for another 10 days, then increase

again. Keep increasing in this way until you start to feel better. You can take

up to 6 tablets daily but if the symptoms still persist, then you may well need

to try a course of hydrocortisone. Any chance you can see Dr Peatfield at any

of his clinics. Look in our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk

and then click on Dr Peatfield's Clinic Update in the list in the right hand

column under TPA News to see where these clinics are.

Meanwhile, take large doses of vitamin C 4/5000mgs in your case

with the Siberian Ginseng and liquorice tincture.

I'm really upset because the results seem frighteningly low. It makes sense as

I am always exhausted and cannot handle stress at all anymore, after about 10

years of non stop massive stress! But I was hoping that it wouldn't be as major

as this seems to be.

I'd be really grateful for any advice or reassurance from anyone!

Thanks for reading,

Georgie :)

Georgie, you are not on your own any more. You now have lots of

fellow sufferers who will become friends on TPA and we have a wealth of

information that is way beyond the knowledge that most doctors have - so you

are in very safe hands here. Wanting to " give up " hopefully will soon

become a thing of the past, but you have to be patient, learn to be assertive,

read as much of the 'good' information as possible so you understand exactly

what makes the thyroid function best and learn about the many associated

conditions that go along with hypothyroidism that stop the thyroid hormone from

working.

Welcome on board - many have got back their normal health by

becoming members here - count this as the first day of your life because there

IS light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you so much for responding. I ordered the Nutri Adrenal Extra this

morning, and also stopped my T4. I hope that this will help a little in the

short term. I'll continue with the liquorice, ginseng and vit c.

I've got an appointment with the doctor in a couple of weeks so I will ask for

the short synacthen test. I am going to take my mum with me for moral support!

(Ridiculous, I am nearly 40 years old!) I am going to try to get a few bits of

relevant literature together to support my case, and hopefully they will refer

me for the test.

Thanks for the advice and support. I try to stay positive, but it is not always

easy! I had to tell my boss that I wouldn't be working any overtime for a while,

and he was not happy at all. But I feel that for now I have to try to take it

easy on myself.

I understand that if I get the short syncathen test, I can't take any HC

beforehand - does that include HC cream (which I use for excema on my legs)?

Would I still be able to take NAX, other supplements? (I am leaping ahead a bit

here - I don't know if I'll be able to persuade the doctor to refer me for the

test yet).

I live in Birmingham, where Dr Skinner has his practice, and i was wondering

whether to ask for a referral to him? Any thoughts?

Thanks so much for your help.

Georgie :)

This is 's recommendation for supplementing with adrenal fatigue.

http://hbmag.com/supplements-to-fight-adrenal-fatigue/

I also recommend *whole salt* everyday....first thing in the morning when you

wake up....1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon in a glass of water...drink it all down. Adrenals

need salt.....and it's great for the system. All the trace minerals are

important to help the body function properly.

Pantothenic acid is also very important (vitamin B-5)

Hi Georgie - you should not take HC for 6 weeks before the test

and not take Nutri Adrenal Extra for two weeks before the test - otherwise the

results could be flawed. You would need to telephone the hospital or speak with

your GP to find out whether using the HC cream for your eczema would make a

difference.

If you are suffering with low adrenal reserve, I'm afraid that

Dr Skinner is not your man as he no longer treats adrenals. The doctor to see

in this case would be Dr Peatfield. Check out if he has a clinic near to where

you live. Go to our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk

and look in the right hand column for his clinic details.
