Guest guest
HI MO Your not the only one to experiance family problems, and drugs for depression make things worse especially if the side effects are constipation and fluid retention, and I have taken an overdose twice. Marital problems along with alcohol to contend with I seperated in 2001 and divorced in 2009. My two Daughters do not keep in touch depriving me of knowing my Grandchildren. Many of us have several problems to deal with. Instead of drugs I was provided with CPN's, but this does not always work out either, and at the moment I amgoing through a complaint with the help of ICAS, as my CPN suddenly stopped seeing me and having seen a psychiatrist who wanted to put me on yet more drugs along with the harmful effects which I have refused. I have now received a diagnoses of being a deluded hypochondriac, and this remark has appeared in previous records, so I am going to ask that these remarks be removed and a letter of apology be placed in my records. I am also going to fight for better treatment and proper thyroid tests for all, as what the NHS offer are not reliable, and many are having to pay for drugs from abroad. My interest in photography has kept me going, so my suggestion is that you get an interest in a hobby. I have also found that these forums help as it helps to know that others suffer from the same symptoms, and that it is not all in ones mind. When I had cancer it helped to be with others that had undergone the same OP. I am also quite sure that a drug I was placed on for 14 years caused cancer along with a worsening of other problems, but nobody will bombard me with drugs like they have in the past. All I can say is don't do the same as I did, and keep your mind focussed on something even if its a chat on the chat forum. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen Thank you for responding, it certainly does help to know there are others out there who can understand when the pain becomes unbearable. I have to face the next reduction in the benzos in a week's time and I am not looking forward to it I can tell you. I am advertising for a carer to look after me cos if it is anything like the last two reductions I am going to need all the help I can get. Hope things improve for you, I like your fighting spirit. Guest guest
HI MO I wish you well, and join if you have not already done so THE CHAT FORUM as you can chat about anything to take your mind off feeling low. The morning seems to be the worst time for me, so I have to get up, and at times when I have been in much pain in the middle of the night I get up to take my mind off it, but good luck and hope that you get off the benzos OK. It is my own family that have caused me much heartbreak, but I have a feeling that they will suffer in turn, but I try to foget them as much as possible now, which is getting easier now that I can get about more. I also do not experiance the chest infections that I got before the divorce apart from pneumonia that I ended up with by spending a night in hospital next to a patient with a nasty chest, and it could have been prevented with correct hospital care. Chest infections can pull you down, but drugs causing weight gain are not good for ones lungs or heart. I don't know how I survived 1999 plus a Husband who offered no support, but in turn no computer or Thyroid forums to seek help either.
