Guest guest
I also know someone who is on levothyroxine because she has been diagnosed hypothyroid because of her blood test. She has no symptoms -she is tall willowy, athletic and full of energy -with or without the tablets.........She tried to tell her doc this but the answer was no you are hypothyroid the blood test says so, so you must take these tablets! It just goes to show that what should really happen is that a doc should take blood samples well before we develop hypothyroidism, when we are really well -the results would be fascinating. Of course this would only work if you don't develop subclinical features very young in life! Ange X -- Re: How can Doctors Say This? Same here!! I have met / spoken to lots of people who tell me how marvelous their doctor is and how they are hypo and don't have any symptoms - then go on to tell me about the pain they suffer, their hair falling out or getting thin, cholesterol spots on their eyelids, tiredness and all the rest of the symptoms - but according to their doctors its NOT their thyroid (of course)!!Glynis> However, she would say she is fine and had no symptoms before diagnosis or since. She thinks I'm mad!> >> > At the weekend I went to a school reunion and sat next to someone who said she had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was taking thyroxine although she didn't have any symptoms. Guest guest
…and hopefully, once the TPA article gets published in the Mail on Sunday (watch this space), this will be the beginning of the start of this happening. Petrified of being sued - big time.................petrified of being proved wrong.......................petrified of realising they were wrong all along and what damage they have done..............and more importantly -in my opinion - the field of endocrinology being swamped with patients that they might have to treat with something that could make them better for once. Oh roll on when this lot get their come uppance. Best wishes Mandy
Guest guest
Hello Mari - give her this link, it just might help her to understand about the futility of TSH a little more. I love this, and everybody should pass it around wherever they can, especially to their doctors who insist on TSH and nothing else. http://wn.com/Desiccated_thyroid_extract Luv - Sheila I have been helping a physician set up a new practice here in the states. She runs the obligatory TSH on EVERY patient that has blood drawn. I have repeatedly told her that a TSH of 3 is not normal even if it is in the " range " given by the lab. While I still have to remind her, she is at least getting the rest of the panel on anyone who presents with a TSH of 2.0 or higher...but I still keep making sure it is done. I think she is getting it... I hope. I will keep working on her lol Hang in there Mari _,_._,___
