Guest guest
Hi Jacki I would telephone Dr Peatfield and ask what he would recommend regarding treating your erratic adrenal function. Your first test shows very high cortisol. Cortisol should be at it's highest first thing in the morning to help you get through the day, but you must be practically bouncing off the walls first thing. Do you, as suggested have low night time blood sugar levels, insomnia, chronic pain, inflammation, glycogen storage impairment or an imbalance in the hypothalmic adrenal axis? By mid-day, you are suddenly crashing to way below the normal reference range, and your cortisol level carries on right below or at the bottom of the range to your midnight test. Dr P may recommend that you start a course of Nutri Adrenal Extra (NAE) to help balance your adrenal function. You start by taking 1 tablet first thing with breakfast, and in 10 to 14 days, add another NAE with your lunch. Always take with food but never take any after 1.00p.m. Increase by taking another tablet with breakfast in another 10 to 14 days and keep increasing this way until you start to feel better. You can take up to 6 NAE daily, but if 6 tablets are not working, it may be because you need a course of hydrocortisone. Guest guest
Hi Sheila - thanks for responding and also for the interesting article by Dr P, it all makes sense to me. Hi Jacki I would telephone Dr Peatfield and ask what he would recommend regarding treating your erratic adrenal function. I'd read people in posts mention their appointments with Dr P but didn't know he did telephone consultations. Can you tell me if there is a good time to ring him? Also how much do they cost and how long for? I see from his brochure that he did have appointments in Durham (only about 40 minutes from me) but they don't show on the TPA Clinic dates for 2010/11 and so the next nearest is Morpeth, some 2 hours away. (You know what this tiredness is like and I'd have to drive myself). Do you, as suggested have low night time blood sugar levels, insomnia, chronic pain, inflammation, glycogen storage impairment or an imbalance in the hypothalmic adrenal axis? Don't have chronic pain, not sure about blood sugar levels or the rest but yes I do have my most energy in the morning and I've started to get up before the alarm goes off (this was unheard of before and has only been for the last few weeks since taking a very low dose of the Armour) and the rest of the day is better than I was. I did suffer with insomnia but that has also improved in the last few weeks. Thanks. Jackie x
