Guest guest
Hi, I haven't posted in a while, Just about 2 weeks before I had RAI my endo did an Anti Thyroid panel with the Thyroid Peroxidase ( TPO) and Antithyroglobulin Abs This is what confuses me: He never did the TSI that people have with Grave's He did this test once and I had it check by a GP about 3 years after my RAI. The test back in Oct 2005 was as follows: TPO 967 H range 0----34 Antithyroglobulin Abs 523 H range 0----40 FT3 at the time was 4.6 range 2.2----4.2 Three years after the RAI my antithyroid abs were in the 300's I was told that they would become less and less until they are gone. _______________________________________________________________ It is confusing to me that the TSI was never done. It is also confusing that the Iodine Uptake was done and it was NORMAL yet my endo said that didn't matter. Why didn't it matter? My Ultra sound was showing Multi Nodular toxicity I had a Thyroid Scan which showed activity in both lobes of the Thyroid especially in the right one, not as much at all in the left. I had the RAI and went Hypo 3 months later, weighed only 85 pounds Gained slowly up to where I am today at 125 pounds but was on 100 mcg of T4 hormone when I was 85 pounds and now at 125 pounds I am on 88 mcg and 75 mcg alternating every other day. __________________________________________________________________ He always has my chart marked Hyperthyroidism Only a one time did he check the code for Graves and he never mentioned Grave's but that must be what I have. If he mentions it now, he will only say Hyperthyroid and now you are treated with T4 for the rest of your life to keep from being Hypothyroid. With no TSI ever being checked how do I know I have Graves and not just Hyperthyroidism? Is there a difference? Can you just have hypertyhroidism and not grave's? Then how could the TPO be so high and the Antithyroglobulin Abs be so high as well, that is obviously AUTOIMMUNE. Thanks for any opinions BTW, I talked to the Nurse today and she told me my Endo said that I could try the 88 mcg and 75 mcg but he didn't see where I needed to. he said if I chose to do that, he would insist on a TSH in 4 weeks. TSH??????? Is that all? The TSH could be normal and the FT4 and FT3 be dragging or over the top and he would never know it. Sorry for going on.
