Guest guest
Taking T3 alone since 4 December 2010. Took 4 months to get to a stable dose of 10 mcg per day (went up to 15 mcg but got sweaty and anxious so pulled back to 10, then tried again). Now on 20 mcg per day in a split dose for 4 weeks. During that 4 weeks, all hypo symptoms are back with a vengeance. Still on the low carb GF diet but have put on a stone since Easter. Last weekend recorded a basal body temperature of 34.3 degrees C. Have the usual sleep problems, fatigue, joint and muscle aches and constipation. Also libido, which had come back on T3, has now headed for the hills. Felt awful yesterday and was in bed, fully clothed including cardigan, under the duvet. Feeling slightly better today but now have hot, tender swelling on one side of my neck. Feel tired, shakey , muzzy headed. Could this be thyroiditis and if so, what do I do? Due to see the endo again in July. We haven't had a holiday since 2007 because of my health. In February I was feeling so good that we booked to go away in August. If I still feel like this then, I will not be going. D
Guest guest
Bumping this again and hoping that someone will respond. As well as the symptoms below, I had a basal bo dy temperature of 33.7 this morning. One day last week it was 34.3 and I thought that was bad enough! Simply do not know what to do. Guest guest
With such a low temperature one might suspect a faulty thermometer. I would try to find somebody with another thermometer and use theirs for 4 or 5 mornings, and take your basal temperature before you get out of bed in a morning and before having anything to eat or drink and record this. With a temperature of 33.7 degrees C, this would suggest that you are suffering with hypothermia, never mind hypothyroidism. Are you sure that you have been fully tested to check your levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Please let us have the results of these together with the reference range. Something could well be in great need of supplementation. Are you treating your adrenals? Have you been tested to see whether you have systemic candidiasis or even, mercury poisoning due to amalgam fillings. Any of these could be stopping your thyroid hormone from being properly utilised at the cellular level, and instead of the active hormone T3 working for you, it is pooling and actually causing your symptoms of thyroid toxicity. We cannot second guess that these possible associated conditions are OK, we need to know exactly. So sorry to hear that you are feeling in such a rubbish state Sheila. Guest guest
Thermometer shows normal result with OH so I presume it's me. I know my ferritin is low. I don't have the range, but it was 40 in October and had taken over a year to get there with oral supplements. There is a lengthy back story to that. B12 is fine, usually over range thanks to the supplements. D3 is deficient. It was 22 (10-60) in October. I had raised it from 10 in April to 25 and am now taking 5,000ius per day. Folate in Feb was 13.3 (3.8-16). I am due for another test next week. I am using magnesium oil for cramps. I have not been able to get magnesium, copper or zinc tested. I am taking selenium and NAX as well. D
