Guest guest
Hi Janet: Did you ask at the HypoPet group? Did they not know how to help Golden? http://pets./group/HypoPets/ You are correct that dogs need a great deal more thyroid meds than humans. Some are on 8-10 tablets a day or more for their conditions. Generally people use Thiroyd from Greater Pharma (Thailand) to treat animals. Just T4 doesn't work, just as it often does not work in humans. Labs to request: With a dog I would get Free T3, Free T4, Serum Iron, and total Estrogens. Cortisol testing is not accurate enough for a slight weakness and their stress levels when they go to the vet preclude getting a good result. Low cortiosl causes high estrogen in pets, so it is a good maker to use to see if they need adrenal support. Most any dog with sickness has adrenal stress and probably inflamation. Do you know if these tests were pulled? Many dogs do indeed get sick when they get older because of so many vaccinations. Dogs should have vaccines only when they are puppies but never any after that. In a perfect world, they wouldn't even get them. If raised on a farm for example, they should drink their mother's milk for hormone developement and immunity. But, the only reason we vaccinate is because it is usally a LAW we need to follow. I give my dogs iodine everyday and they are beautiful and healthy so far without any troubles (knock on wood.) Because we have an iodine deficiency worldwide, this effects our pets as well. Is you Vet a natural Doctor? If not, than I would recommend a second opinion from a holistic, or natural DR. Candle lit for Golden. My thoughts are with her. Cheers. JOT > ith NT and supplements and a vet with a lot of knowledge in hypothyroidism i have been to a support group on pets with thyroid disease but not much info. > Thank you > Janet >
Guest guest
> I have been helping a neighbour who's dog is suffering from hypothyroidism, he was diagnosed in September last year. Hi Janet, Please ask the owner of Golden to join this group http://pets./group/K9Auto-ImmuneSupport/ She will get a lot of support from the members and they are extremely knowledgeable, particularly about Hypothyroidism in dogs. Best wishes,
