A git of a sticky, controversial problem, but hopefully, some of

these might help you Jackie.

Can anyone point me in the direction of any

'acceptable to my GP' research linking sub-clinical hypothyroidism to heart

problems please because I'd read that somewhere and so had made reference to

that in my six pages of typed symptoms, but he was dismissive and was only

interested in trials. If the Mayo Clinic didn't say it then he wasn't

interested !

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks to Mandy, JOT, Sheila and for these, I'm most obliged to you.  I'm putting together a letter to my Doctors Practice and need as much information to put together my counter argument to his dismissive tone to me that I don't qualify for treatment.

My GP gave in to some blood tests

(but clearly in his own interests) as they didn't do most of the ones I

requested and even then the lab refused some because they had the wrong coloured tops on them!  My surgery has again contacted me to have the Vit D one taken for a third time because of their stupid and continued errors.  The more interaction I have with them, the more I realise just what idiots I'm dealing with.  Sorry for the rant, but I get so angry.

However  just for my own clarity, I thought I'd look up the definition of 'sub-clinical' and it says:

" subclinical - relating to the stage in the development of a disease before the symptoms are observed "

Well

this is just a ridiculous diagnosis as I gave him 6 typed sheets

of A4 with ALL MY hypo symptoms (which had been wrongly treated or dismissed)  which were on record going back years and years.  At the end of it I wrote that I'd read that despite my TSH only being in the 2.90 range, I was at high risk of heart problems and as both parents had died of heart problems in their 60's and I'm nearly 57,

I really wanted this fixing!  So, how can he say I have Sub Clinical Hypothyroidism and that my thyroid is failing but not enough to medicate.  That's just a contradiction in terms.  This is the GP who when I put my very cold hand on his (2 months ago so in the summer), retorted that he was always hot anyway!

I'm getting really fired up to get this letter sent.

Thanks for listening and for contributing :)

Jx
